OK Google not speaking answers on my Galaxy S6

In the past week or so, the Google app is no longer speaking the answers on my Galaxy S6 (Verizon). I've looked at every possible setting. Even took it to the Verizon store and they couldn't figure it out. So they sent me another one overnight. You probably guessed it, that one doesn't speak answers either! This is driving me crazy. Any suggestions what might be causing "OK Google" to not speak the answers? It shows me the answers just nothing being spoken.
It's not the volume controls, or the "speech output" setting, or about 2 or 3 dozen other things that I've fiddled with to no avail. I'm out of ideas.. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Is your default system language the same as the language you're asking the questions in?

Mmmm... that's weird. Media volume is up, no BT headsets connected? What about if you sign into a different Google account? Or if you try it out in Safe Mode?

Yes.. it's very weird. I did try another google account and had the same problem. media volume is up.. no BT headset.. tried it with wired earbuds still no spoken response. the Verizon store guy tried Safe Mode and still the same problem.. I'm baffled.. I'm going to do a factory reset on the other S6 before I send it back to Verizon and see if it works without any apps installed on it.. maybe there's an app causing this problem..

The problem is a Google software bug. Found on a google forum that pausing the Web & Apps Activity control (under Google-->Personal Info & Privacy-->Activity Controls). Pausing fixed the problem with Google Now not speaking responses to questions. Unfortunately, leaving the Web & Apps Activity control paused isn't a solution for me. Hopefully Google will fix an obvious problem with their software..

Yes. Have exactly same problem on Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. As suggested by someone else in this thread, I also found that pausing Web and Apps activity from Google account appears to solve the issue. But it is obviously just a temporary patch, this needs to be fixed by Google.
Does anyone have this issue with devices other than Samsung? I don't have any issue on my Chromebook or my iPad.
Thanks
