Okay...I'm on my 2nd EVO.

If I hold my phone in such a way that I am practically looking down at it from the top edge, and do this in a darkened room, I can see some light coming up from where the buttons are on the bottom. Is this the famous light leakage we are talking about?

If so, to exchange the phone, or get upset over it seems insane to me. I HOPE there is some light leakage that others are experiencing that I am not and what I am seeing is NOT the problem.

On the other hand, has anyone exchanged it for a totally different phone due to its size? Now THIS I can see!

No that's not the light leakage.

what is up with all these comments.. If some of you are fine with keeping a $500 product with a minor defect (when you can get another that has no defects), then fine keep it. But to tell this guy he didn't have sufficient reason or was being nitpicky for getting a replacement, is just absurd. Everyone benefits from a happy customer. This will only make HTC improve their build quality in the future. Obviously nothing in this world is literally perfect, but to me, my evo does seem perfect, and that's what matters.

Thank you! Why should I wait for that leakage problem to get progressively worse, have dust start to get inside the camera and have my 30-day refund/exchange policy expire just to then maybe be told that "Oh, that's natural. We don't see it as a defect" or go through the hassle of having to send the phone in and wait? You all should be happy as customers that the consumer won for a change. Point blank...the rep at the store was attempting to be deceptive and if I didn't approach the situation correctly, I would have been waiting for them to get phones out to the other 130 people that they had on the waiting list first before being able to get my repalcement...NO THANKS.

Sorry, we all simply didn't realize you could come on here with your story and nobody else could express their opinions. If you don't want to hear what people had to say, why'd you share?

You're right, nothing is perfect. Sometimes you have to accept flaws but I certainly wouldn't accept defects in the features or functions that made me want to purchase that item (beautiful screen, fast processor, etc). I mean, I would buy a brand new Porsche that had a giant rust spot on the hood, maybe you would and that's good for the dealer and manufactuer.

A giant rust spot on the hood? Give me a break. What you ought to compare it to is a few loose fibers on the floor mats.

I have light leakage on my phone, but I actually think it looks cool. Its like the lights are making my screen look like its on stage or something. LOL. If it gets bad enough I will return it, but definitely not enough for me to send back. Its a minor thing. Geez you guys are hostile today LOL.

The glass on my phone has risen up enough that the screen is noticeably brighter at the bottom, I've already been to the Sprint store and they are going to replace it when they get more in stock.

I took the oh that's nothing approach with my pre and ended ip regretting it. Won't do it again but thanks for the feedback.

No light leakage, no glass issues, etc on my phone.

If I had minor light leakage, I'd have stuck with it. Glass coming up? I'd get that replaced ASAP.

We all have different tolerances to defects. As someone in the computer industry (manufacturing and serviceability engineering), there are certain things that I know aren't show-stoppers in regards to functionality and reliability. Glass separation is one thing I'd DEFINITELY get fixed.

For a device thats main selling point is it's big and beautiful screen having a screen defect is a pretty big deal and not "a few loose fibers" as you suggest. I'm glad you're OK with imperfection, one less person fighting with me for replacement stock.

I don't understand why some people get so defensive and even hostile if anyone points out a potential defect or dissatisfaction with the phone. I mean I like this phone but it's just that...a phone. I feel no personal allegiance to HTC or even Android. I prefer android because of its integration with google services.

One of the benefits of online forums to me is that it allows consumers to pool our voices so that vendors take our concerns more seriously. Getting online to pat ourselves on the back for getting a phone that we love is fun but gets old pretty quickly.

I am having the touchscreen issue and I fully intend to exchange it within the 30 day period, and if the replacement does the same thing, I will jump ship to another phone. Hopefully, as HTC and Sprint finally hear some of these online complaints and concerns they will take steps to get them resolved...or at least make a definitive statement as to whether these issues are as designed. Although I can't imagine HTC or Sprint saying "our phones are designed to be used while being held...who uses phones laying flat on a desk or a bed?"....

I still want to know what consist of "Light Leakage"? Again if I hold my phone at the perfect angle and look at it from the ear piece down you can see what I guess is light leakage from the 4 buttons on the base of the phone.... Not even remotely noticeable when holding the phone in the proper way.... Also in pitch black darkness there is "Leakage" of light from the micro HDMI and USB ports on the bottom of the phone.... But I can only see it in the pitch black darkness.... No glass coming up on my phone either... Touch screen works great, even got Swype Beta today... Loving that keyboard vs the stock version.... No WiFi issues I get a strong WiFi signal through the walls of my house and 20 yards down my driveway at the Mailbox or in the far back of my yard 40 yards from the house.... So far my EVO has been the $HIT!!!!!

Well I don't have the touch screen issues as shown in the video's and I don't have light leakage or glass coming up.... At the same time I don't think Sprint will say our phones are only intended to be held in your hand while using, I never have used a phone while laying it flat on a desk, bed or couch... I set mine on the coffee table or on the couch cushion next to me all the time while watching TV but if I want to check some thing real quick I pick the phone up (not real easy to push and hold the sleep/power button without actually picking the phone up first) and once I pick the phone up and push the power button I keep the phone in my hand while I text, surf or e-mail.... I couldn't imaging pushing the button, powering the phone up then setting it back down flat where I have to lean over and look down at the device (A fairly uncomfortable position when your either laying on a bed or slumped down on a couch) Who operates a phone or even a tablet or laptop computer?

I dunno dude... I hope you get your issue resolved and yeah people can be fairly idiotic on here.... Just because I don't have any problems with my phone does not mean other people are not having issues.... No reason to berate or talk down on people..... I also have no great tie to HTC.... a little bit of loyalty to Sprint.... I jumped ship two years ago from Sprint (10+ years) to AT&T for an iPhone and was totally miserable (for where I operate) love being back on Sprint and them FINALLY having a truly sweet device...
