One in five Pixel 3 buyers came from iPhone, but over half are former Samsung owners

Interesting read...

"The study found that a whopping 51% of Pixel 3 buyers were actually former Samsung owners. Specifically, about 37% of sales came from users who were upgrading from the Galaxy S7 family of devices. Meanwhile, 14% of buyers came from a Motorola device."

But I don't know if "from" is the right term .. many people own multiple devices more and more these days, I think.

Single device user that jumped from Samsung to the 3XL. Never been happier.

I mean most Android users are Samsung users so nothing surprising there.

I don't know why, but I thought the number from Sammy would be lower and the number would be more from like LG and Moto.

It would be interesting to see actual numbers and what was the driving factor. I have an S8 and have considered getting a Pixel, however my S8 works flawlessly and just got the One UI/Pie update and it now performs better than it did on Oreo. I might check out the Pixel 4 or 5 along with the latest S and Note series when I'm ready to get a new phone. The thing that would hold me back from getting a Pixel is that I envision having to spend considerable time searching for aps for features that are included on the Galaxies and Notes, but not on stock.

I don't fit any mold

I'm a former (and for the past few days, until I get my FedEx shipment) a Samsung user, and went to the Pixel 2, and I plan on staying with Google if they keep the same quality (hardware and update availability), and the same customer service.

Samsung has come down in quality and updating, and they never were very good at customer service. (I won't even say tech support - they don't have any. Google has great tech support, to the point that the last time they asked me to send them a debug dump, and I had the phone rooted when I took it, all I got was a nice letter asking me to please unroot and do the dump and send it to them - they didn't know what half the stuff from Magisk was. No problem that I had rooted the phone, though - they were still trying to fix it under warranty. Try that with Samsung - You rooted? You voided your warranty.)

I am a multi phone user. Have been since 2014. I have both - Pixel 3XL and S10+.
I will say that Google service and support is excellent and Samsung service is good but support is horrible.

oh I completely agree with you! I figured I'd try the Galaxy phones out again, and the fact that I was forcing to an upgrade after my older Nexus 6P fright ad on me from the boot loop issue! The problem with Samsung phones is the fact that for the average customer it's a great great phone. Great screen pretty good camera etc. Software updates as we all know suck! and they're not going to get better anytime soon... it's both Samsung's issue and Verizon's issue. I plan on keeping my pixel 3 XL for quite a long time! My next phone will be a five g phone whenever the networks are ready.

Phone has amazing durability, screen is made out of gorilla Glass 5, the phone is made of aluminum and glass feels great in the hands can take a gentle fall every now and then. Screen has amazing resolution, best camera in the industry was not the like...

Not finding the support updates that bad on Samsung/Verizon so far

The support is finally better on Verizon than Samsung's end. However, in general when Google releases an Android update Samsung Verizon is the last to get it. Even Galaxy s8 on AT&t and T-Mobile networks a little bit faster.

Pretty much all carrier's are close in time for the security updates , now major OS updates that's a different story (talking about Samsung phones)

if I understand that the finalized software versions before they roll it out to the masses, but I will never ever understand why it takes Samson and particular so so long to roll out a software update. especially considering that the Galaxy s8 on T-Mobile and AT&t now or if it's the same phone Galaxy s8 phones got it a month before the Verizon version of the phones did.
