is their damn store (product ordering system). I've had Nexus 4, 5 and tried for a week to get the 6. All three launches were botched. Yesterday, took me 30 seconds to pre-order the 6P. Yeah, it'll take a while for them to actually ship it, but at least I don't have to obsess about timing my purchase, missing some undisclosed window, then hitting the forums for clues on what I should do better.

Good to know, especially because it supports my idea that Google is more interested in monetizing the ecosystem for this product cycle than in maintaining any lingering developers-only-buyer-beware kind of status. It's also good to know because it suggests a strong commitment behind things like Android Pay and Nexus Protect.

We may even start seeing TV commercials for the 5X and 6P in the near future! Blasphemy, right?

I think part of the difference is that there were zero phones ready to ship day of order. With the last 3 phones google had X number of phones ready to go, and they only set it up to sell that many. Tthis year with the 5X ad 6P it's all preorders, so there's nothing stopping them from taking as many as people want to place, and just telling people shipping will be delayed.

The ordering was a lot smoother this time. I will have to wait and see how things go, but it seems better so far.
