I also posted this in the android apps section of the androidcentral forum, but I feel like I might get more active response if I post it here as well :)

So I have finally settled on a web browser for my phone, Opera Mobile. It is just the smoothest android browser out there, plus I'm used to the controls because I used Opera Mini on my old feature phone. One of it's greatest features is the home screen speed dial. I hate, however, that you don't have the option to change the thumbnail of the speed dial. The thumbnail obviously is stored somewhere, but I don't know where! I think I've gotten somewhere, but I can't find it on my SD Card. When I go to opera:config, I can go into some of the configuration files for the browser, and I see the thumbnail files. I can only find these files on my phone, through the web browser, though, so I can't be sure and I can't edit them. Any ideas on how to get to them from my computer?

PS: I'm actually on the stock VM ROM, I switched back after the camera bug started to annoy me.

I loaded opera on my phone while running Zefies CM7 port, and it crashed every app I loaded thereafter.
For the pictures, If you can only access them from the Opera browser, Download titanium backup, back up the browser + user data, load onto pc, Duplicate the file onto the hard drive, and begin tearing the app down. Depending on your version of Windows, you may be able to filter for just images.

Huzzah! I found it! I took your advice and opened it from my backup in titanium. They apparently really didn't want you to find it. It's located DEEP in the application (My Documents\Downloads\data\data\com.opera.browser\opera\etc\6), and even then, it's like, a generic file. I almost missed it... it's in a folder, and all of them are named IMG and then the number speed dial it is. There is no file extension, and the are just called "Files". I had to open them in every image and text program on my computer before I found one that worked. Now I just have to wait until I can use my computer with image editing software on it.

So I edited all of the pictures to my liking today, put them all back into the folder, and made all the files look just like they did before. I replaced this new file with the one in titanium backup, went onto my phone, and clicked restore in the backup, but they all still looked the same. I wonder what I did wrong? The folder that they are in is shown. The "IMG" files are the pictyres for the speed dial, and I can't figure out what those "FAV" files are. When I rename them with .png ans the extension, one shows the bookmark icon for that particular site, but the rest are blank. I got nothing.

Did you follow that same path to fix the app? It should be reloaded onto the SD card.

Another thing is, Is the image size the same as it was before? You may have to resize the image to get it to work. Google open source image resizing software.
