Opinions on laptop dock? Or HDMI connection?

I have the Verizon Thunderbolt. I played with the Razr at a local Verizon store, and have to admit I have a bit of laptop dock and HDMI envy. I wish my Thunderbolt has these 2 features. Unfortunately, the Verizon store only had the 10 inch screen laptop dock, and the rep said the 14 inch model is not available yet. Anyone have experience and opinions on the laptop dock? The laptop dock seemed a little sluggish to me, similar to the Bionic phone and laptop dock. Is that normal?

How about the HDMI connection? Does it work well in mirroring everything from the phone to another larger screen device such as a TV screen, or maybe a DVD player? What I'm hoping to do is to have the Razr phone play Netflix movies, and connected via the HDMI cable to a larger LCD screen (such as a TV device or DVD player) to mirror the same Netflix movie onto the larger screen. Is this possible?

Thanks, Casey

Which websites are you going to visit? The browser in the lapdock is laggy, but it does the job when browsing these forums or facebook.

The Razr does an excellent job with HDMI out. It outputs in 1080p and looks phenomenal!
One unique thing about the Razr is that it supports Netflix HD, and that looks amazing when mirrored into the TV.
Some content does not support mirroring though. I know that the NFL app doesn't support it, and Hulu didn't work on my Bionic. But Netflix works great!

+1 for HDMI mirroring. I mirrored my phone to a TV and streamed movies from my home computer via Motocast. It was pretty awesome.

Was really disappointed that I couldn't use the NFL app to mirror the Monday night game this week but I guess you can't have it all.

Sorry, what do you mean by mirror phone via Motocast? Does this mean you don't need to use a USB cord tethered from phone to TV device? Is Motocast a feature that allows wireless mirroring from phone to TV screen?

Thanks for confirming that Netflix works great for mirroring from phone to TV device, very cool ! What I meant to say earlier is that the sluggishness was more for the mouse and cursor usage on the 10" screen laptop dock that I was using at the local Verizon store. The same mouse/cursor sluggishness was also evident to me when I previously played with the Verizon Bionic and laptop dock.

The lapdock i played with was better than the bionic imo. It felt as good as any netbook.

Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk

I had the Bionic Lapdock. I'm holding out for the Lapdock500 Pro (if it ever materializes) that includes the bigger screen and bezel cam.

I am typing this from the lapdock 100 right now. just got it today. It's very comparable to a netbook in terms of browsing performance, and it is not as laggy as the one I tried in the store, but bear in mind it is powered by the phone itself, so whatever is running on the phone itself can use up ram and bog down the webtop

I bought mine today and really like it. It is a little laggy but just as good as the netbook I had. I am happy with it.

I played with the laptop dock again for an extensive time at the Verizon store. The one thing that drove me nutty was trying to figure out where the scroll bar is for moving up and down a web page. Does it exist? I also pressed the Control button while pressing down the left mouse button, and the scroll bar mysteriously appeared on the right side of the screen, but I wasn't able to figure out how to actually scroll up and down a web page. Frustrating! The only thing that does appear to work are the 4 way arrow keys for scrolling up an down a web page, plus pressing the Enter key for opening a link. I asked the rep the price of the 10" screen laptop dock and was slightly shocked to find out it's $299...wow! Unfortunately, the 14" screen laptop dock was not available and neither is pricing. The laptop dock is the main reason I'm potentially considering getting a Razr, but I don't know if I should hold out for the 14" screen dock instead. The other reason is the HDMI outlet.

That rep is misinformed. The lapdock 100 is $199. The lapdock 500 is $299.

To scroll just use two fingers on the touchpad.

Two fingers on the mousepad in a swiping up or down motion for scrolling? The Verizon rep actually looked up the price of the 10" laptop dock on the computer and told me $299. So hopefully it's really $199 instead of $299.

It's really $199. Look on Verizon Wireless website if you want. The Bionic is $299...maybe that's what he looked up.

Dan H is correct. It is only $199, on the web and in the store. That's what I paid yesterday. Your clerk did not look something up correctly.

I cant say anything about RAZR yet but the Bionic works great with HTMI Mirroring.

I will be looking onto a laptock (probably the larger one) sometime after the holidays but not for the same reasons you want it.

I was just streaming the movie via Motocast but I was mirroring the output via a HDMI cable to the TV.
