Opted in for Google voice integration with hangouts and now everything is messed up.

My stock messaging app can't get any text messages . And Google hangouts now shows unknown number when I get a text from anyone in my contacts list. It's all messed up.

How can I opt out or fix this? I'm on sprint if that matters.

Try clearing the data/cache see if that would restart the app to get you ever you need to be.

You need the latest hangouts update, version 2.3. It hasn't hit the play store yet, but you can find the link in an article from android authority.

Do a google search with key terms: "android authority hangouts voice". That should take you to the page. (Sorry, I can't post direct links yet.)

Scroll all the way down until you see the comment about where to download it. Once you install the latest hangouts app, this should fix it. Same thing happened to me.

Not yet, I have both apps though. When I try to text someone through it though it tries to invite them to Hangouts and won't let me text them.

I stopped upgrading Google apps altogether mammy months ago, don't trust them to handle every aspect of my life.

I'm not sure which forum is best for this subject, so I'll link the other one here. The migrations is very confusing - I started but rolled it all back. I got the migration pop up the other day and accepted it, looks like texting works now properly through Hangouts.
