Probably need an s-off routine to disable the checksum for the bootloader. Until we get a custom nandroid recovery to do a recover of the system folder, I'm afraid he is out of luck.
Thanks, I already found that out but the videos linked earlier shows that you should be able to just double tap the word to bring up the choices (without tapping the swype key)...
Thanks for the help but there's no way possible if I got a apk and tryed to put it back thu astro I can't get everything back to normal or is there a way the I could just flash someones stock rom that comes from a fresh lg optimus s?
Sorry to post twice but ksmith maybe you might have some insight on my situation like maybe you have a stock backup of your phones deskclock apk you can post help lol I want a smooth update and not the hacked version of swype haha I also have the launcher clock for the icon as a clock and I downloaded the alarm clock plus is this maybe my problem cuz the phone runs fine with out the deskclock apk but why when. I flash an update just need some help for this annoying problem anything will be appreciated

If we can extract the img files from the "tot" file, we could build a update.zip that would flash you back to stock, thus allowing you to update to V9.

Is there a way to USB tether with this phone? I havent been able to make it work yet, and I have everything installed as required.
I'd love to be able to do usb tether without an application, as I feel the application slows the internet transfer down.

Hey zefie I was checking the link you told me to go to but I downloaded the test file 1 .zip and the test recovery or something but I don't know how or what the mtd0 and the mtd stuff is really confusing like it says to put yours in and I don't wanna make a super brick out of this phone I'm willing to try anything once lol
We don't have a ROM yet. Just hold tight, hopefully someone still on V8 will post the apk, or perhaps we can get a V9 root ROM out.
Ok thanks and scratch the recovery question I actually ended up trying it anyways and I found out how to put it all on and it was a go so I saw that there working hard on getting that recovery going and it looks great with how fast they put it out and I tryed again with the update thru naming it update.zip and get signature failure verification abourt installation update.zip but I just hang around for the zip thanks for all your help ;-)
Did you flash the beta recovery? If so perhaps I can make a special update.zip for you to get to V9. Did you delete or CHANGE anything besides clockwork?
All I did was use the commands for the recovery in post 5 and put the recovery-thunderc-test1-img.zip and the flash_image.zip on the root of the sdcard exteacted and I made the signed_test_flash.zip I renamed it update.zip and I have the new recovery screen and flashe the update.zip file and I have good new and no bad but a question and sorry for the long post just wanna make you do something if ya don't have to but after that I found a droid incredible 2.1 deskclock apk the has all its dependent parts for the system to work and installed thru astro but I'm not sure what happend this morning I had downloaded or was downloading the ota file from here then I went to my system. Updates and it was downloading but but you k ow the probblem I had before it aborted and it wont let me download from sprint again so I just downloaded the one here how will I apply this just like a update.zip? And again I wanted to mega clearly make sure I didn't miss anything and thanks sorry for long message
the signed test flash just puts a useless file in /system
also using another deskclock apk won't work it NEEDS to be LGLS670V8.
Let me make you a custom one without the deskclock patch.
If you have the custom recovery, try this file. Rename it to update.zip and apply it.
If it installs successfully, you will have V9. If not, go to "Other" and then "copy recovery.log to sdcard" then post the contents of /sdcard/recovery.log

Haha I had my hope on that apk ok I also tryed to flash the guys ota of the update as the file its named with the .zip. that's how it came and just update.zip that was a no go lol and when you put the file could you tell me how to get it on the phone appreciate th hook up will do the same if anyone runs into this crazy tight spot lol
well this zip is only for you, unless someone else removed ONLY deskclock ;p
anyway just put it on the sd card as "update.zip" then use the custom recovery to flash it. let me know if it works for you.

hold off for about 10 minutes, and delete and redownload the file after those 10 minutes, i found an error in the zip
edit: ok updated file is on server, redownload it then try
