Just got my otterbox in the mail. It is sexy with a capital S!!! :-D

How thick is it? Also, what is the material like? Is it soft-ish or hard?

I currently have this case:

This is not a bad case at all, especially for the cost. I do recommend it, but as many have mentioned, the opening for the USB port is a little small. I don't find this to be a big deal, but I could see it bothering people.

It is not too thick... I will take a picture later. The silicone case is similar to the one you have, but includes a slightly thick band between the screen and home keys. It can be slightly a nuisance if you have big fingers.
Of course it came with a screen protector that I consider a quality one, because my touch to it is exactly the same as if I did not have a screen protector on. Some may know that some other screen protectors are low quality so they hinder the capacitive touch and add the "new feature"- resistance touch.
Included with the silicone case is a hard plastic back shell to the phone (with a snug fit), which I have already tested it by dropping it from 6 feet on to a hard floor and not a scratch or crack.
If I were to try to find one other CON it would be that the buttons on the side made from silicon can be a bit bulgy, but this is the payoff for protecting the phone.
One thing I love is that the headphone jack and usb port are covered at all times when not being used. Hope this helps.

can you charge the phone with the case on? i got a silicone case but the charger cord won't fit

I've got this case AND the silicone case you mentioned above. Yes, you can charge the phone with the hard case on. It fits PERFECTLY. I didn't like the silicone case at all. Besides the openings not being large enough, it just seemed too bulky to me.

I got my otterbox in the mail on Wednesday... I loves it! Not too bulky at all and it takes drops like a wwf wrestler minus the knee and back trouble later in life! I was disappointed it came only in black then remembered I had some pink and black zebra stripe Duck(tm) Tape(tm) (tm) I picked up from walmarche a few days before and stuck a piece (after cutting out a couple holes) on the back and it looks good

The data/charging port is easily accessible when lifting up the tab, otherwise it rests flush against the silicon, keeping dust and cooties out.
