Oreo coming to ALL V20s on September 7, 2018

Sprint and AT&T already have it. Still waiting on unlocked version and others. I believe Verizon is updating their bloatware apps as well, that's why it's taking long. They have to do several conversions. T-Mobile has WiFi calling so they gotta update that. The rep was a USA rep and their rollout date is for the REST of the USA V20s.
Sweet. I'll update my v20 tonight. It wasn't a major change when my V30 went from nougat to oreo. Biggest noticeable differences are picture and picture for maps and YouTube and the "ThinQ" stuff.

Here's something about the V20 that I just found out and it bugs me. If you go to buy a Note 9 right now the trade in deal is offering more for the G5 than the V20. OK it's not a lot of money... 200 for the G5 vs 150 for the V20. Oh wait! The G5 was modular....lol

Didn't mean to derail the thread.

AT&T has not released Oreo yet.

As for the Sept 7th date, I hope so but can't tell you how many times I've seen something like that and it never happens.

Hey man, I used to have AT&T. I know EXACTLY how their OTA system works. They do NOT release the update ALL AT THE SAME TIME for everyone, it's actually random. They do this due to the fear of the network getting jammed and throttled from massive number of downloads from the server. You have to check every 24 hours. My secret trick that worked for me before (on Samsung AT&T) was change the date manually ahead to bypass the "check back again in 24 hours" message. You may have to keep trying again and again, maybe like 15 times. Also, it's required that you have an ACTIVE AT&T SIM CARD and SERVICE otherwise it won't work. Not sure about pre-paid AT&T but definitely post-paid. You can borrow a friend's SIM if needed to.

Be patient y'all. Can't tell you how many times I've seen poor quality updates from manufactures.. pushing the update so fast there were so many bugs and issues, people wish they hadn't updated. Just look at HTC 10 users... pretty upset from what I've seen.

I don't trust Samsung trade in programs, didn't everyone learn their lesson from last year with the Galaxy S8? They said trade in your phone but many have been reported to not get credit for their phone and never got their old phone back because Samsung determined it wasn't in "good condition" or met their standards. The fine print never was clear about it. There was a HUGE backlash, including people considering a lawsuit. You're better off keeping the phone or selling it yourself. You can try sending your phone to them, it's a gamble. Samsung's customer service is horrible, it's best you stick to a retailer. Plus the Note 9 is whack, you're better off saving $600 buying last year's model which is nearly identical in performance and design.

I don’t think at&t version received Oreo yet. I know sprint received Oreo.

Keep in mind, AT&T OTA updates are much different. They randomly select who gets it, and slowly disperse the update. I used to have AT&T so I know exactly how it works. The reasons are obviously to avoid network congestion.

I wasn't suggesting anyone trade in for a Note..... my point was that I'm shocked the G5 has a higher trade in value.

I didn't realize the sim was necessary. I'll take it out of my V30 and try.

Unlocked Pre-paid AT&T Variant V20 is updating to Android O as I typed this. Right on 9/7/2018 like you called...

According to a Reddit user that spoke with an LG rep. Some of you have already gotten it. Can you tell me if you got it yet? And also state your carrier/model below. Also, is there an option to change the display resolution? That might be the only good reason why I'd upgrade. The US unlocked model US996 hasn't gotten it yet. Seen some videos of it on YouTube, the UI looks updated a little bit to match the newer LGs.

UPDATE: All Sprint and International users should have it by now. With AT&T, it should be out now... with my experience with AT&T OTA updates, they randomly select who gets the update and when. If you check and it's not there, you have to wait 24 hours before you can check again.. this is to prevent the network from jamming from simultaneous downloads. You can manually move the time forward to bypass it. If you still don't get it, just wait until September 7. BTW you are REQUIRED to have an active AT&T SIM and service for the OTA update to work. Everyone else needs to wait till September 7.

REMEMBER, once you update, you CANNOT revert back. So make your decision choice wisely... If you like it the way it is, you can just leave it alone.

Nothing here. Verizon V20

Wow, glad to know it works on AT&T pre-paid too! So far we have international, Sprint, and AT&T V20s with the update.

Update: so far, I haven't received the update on my US Unlocked LG-US996 model V20 yet. Seems like Verizon users haven't gotten it yet either. The September 7th date must've been for AT&T only. Keep checking daily and let any of us know if you got it.

it's not just the Oreo update, what about security patches. it's been a few months, so either Verizon is the most secure service LG is the most secure service or we all have been basically forgotten. Then the update, big red so unbelievably slow do to bloat, my next phone will be a Pixel probably.

Yes. It has arrived. I brought my AT&T. Unlocked variant new. I use the prepaid service so I popped SIM in from my other phone. I could use T-Mobile service with this phone also cause it is GSM. I would not have gotten updated with T-Mobile service...have to be AT&T sim
