Oreo nightmare: My verizon galaxy s8 notification sounds sound constantly

If only I had known...yesterday I downloaded and installed the new OREO update and I've had nothing but a nightmare ever since...notification sounds every two or so minutes in my ear that notify me of *nothing*... Whatever's going on in the background of this now woeful p.o.s. phone is out of control. About every two minutes I receive multiple sounds whose source I can't trace, so at the moment my only recourse is to silence the volume completely, which means that I miss important information. Why have notification sounds at all? I have meticulously turned off all but a few notifications in the settings...the very bare minimum...and still the chorus continues. I've had about 20 chimes since I started this question.

Why, Samsung, W-H-Y???

Maybe try re booting the phone? Just the other day I had the Wear OS installation that didn't completely replace the old Android wear icons on my home screen. It fixed everything when I re booted.
