Orginal Samsung Gear S and new Oneplus 5T

[Android Central Question]

Hi,

It seems I'm wrong but I thought I could use the Samsung gear S with Android phones without having to have a Samsung phone.

I've downloaded the Gear S app, but it cannot find the watch at all, yet I can connect the watch via bluetooth to my phone.

Is the watch no good without a galaxy? I know all functions won't be avalible but I expected to get some functionality from the app.

Any advise please?
