OTA and TWRP related question

I have TWRP recovery and since G3's UI is coming to G2, I was thinking if it is possible to go back to stock recovery without flashing the stock rom

Yes, it is possible... but it likely won't help you take the OTA. If you have TWRP installed you have probably flashed something and it could cause the update to fail, or worse, your phone to become non-operational. If you are going to take the OTA next year, you should reflash the stock images to be safe.
