OTA Should Be Live Now

Assuming it does 'unroot', is it like iPhone updates where it would make it harder to 'reroot' later? e.g. is there a benefit to me rooting my phone now while we are sure its possible?

(forgive the silly question, I'm new to android, but not new to the idea of rooting systems/jailbreaking, etc).

Do you have clockworkmod installed? If so then the update will fail, and it will no doubt make the current rooting process more difficult.

I have absolutely nothing installed (beyond Firefox) on the Tbolt at this point.

Eventually I'd like to put either dasBAMF or CM7 on there (once its ready and once they have reasonable wifi tethering support (e.g. without involving a terminal to enable/disable).

So are you saying just leave it until the new update comes out and then root it? I'm fine with that (as long as it doesn't paint me into a corner).

I would root it before the update. People have been running the leaked radio and base (ota) for almost two weeks now, and I'm sure the official update will make rooting even more difficult then it is now.

The update will unroot you. So whats the point?

Things that will prevent update from occurring:

Clockwork recovery
Any modification of the stock software, such as removal of bloat
A different radio version (possibly). You guys need to be careful with this, because if you try to ota with leaked radio, and it goes through, it may hard brick you.

Fair enough - I jsut rooted it, installed clockwork and am install BAMF 1.6 right now anyways, so screw the OTA update :).

BTW, thanks for all your efforts. Just sent you a few brews worth of Paypal :)

This update is said to cause more problems. And it does nothing for battery. No need to update if rooted imo. Im sticking with BAMF 1.6 until CM7 or Gingerbread.

I'm about to do an update, it was release on 4/30/11... it's called das BAMF 1.6. :)

I could of sworn in just had the update at the top of my phone and I went to check my email before looking at it and it disappeared on me when to check for new upgrade and said nothing new. I'm from Indiana Area

Lost your chance:D

Haha yeah. When there is a update does it show like a little box with a + in it? If so I did have it and not sure where it went
