OTA update - asking me, will I be okay if I renamed file?

I recently rooted using TB Auto Root MR1. I didn't have the gingerbread update at that point, and am rooted. I just got an OTA update asking me to Ok or Defer an update, and I hit defer and changed the time to a few hours from now.

I renamed, in system/etc/security, the otacerts.zip file to otacerts.zip.bak. Since I am seeing the phone asking me to update, did I do it wrong, or does it have to ask you, and then fail? I'm wondering what I did wrong.

I still have not actually put a ROM on the phone. I was in the process of starting that when I got the OTA.

Put your phone in AIRPLANE mode and then flash your rom. That will get rid of the pesky OTA reminder.

What ROM are you planning on flashing too?
