I'm torn to use the commuter with ZAGG glass or buy a Defender. Does the commuter still provide good drop protection or should I get a Defender?

I have used defender for every phone I have owend. I would go defender. Cheaper at Amazon.

What I usually do is print Amazon listing off and take it to Best buy and price match it. However Sams has it 5 bucks cheaper than Amazon. I only buy directly from Amazon for stuff like Otterbox and such. Lots of counterfeit if you're not careful

The commuter and a glass protector has worked wonders for me. It really depends on what you feel your protection needs are for you to pick which case will work. If you want extra protection and don't mind the bulk then get the defender. If you want less bulk then the commuter will work.

Also consider Tech 21 Impact Mesh with Zagg glass. Very sharp look with great protection.

I have the Zagg glass with the commuter and it's great. The Zagg glass has a horrific halo effect, but the commuter is plenty of protection with a screen protector. The ONLY way i'd want more protection, is if I was a construction worker. Other than that, the commuter will handle practically anything short of being crushed or dipped in water.

Well I bought a Defender at Sam's today and it is a total POS just like some of the amazon reviews say. First the two plastic shells don't snap flush all the way. From the looks of it this is from the design of the note and the curves in it. Second the outer rubber shell sags greatly and the screen protector has way too big of a gap and terrible response and the control buttons on the sides don't respond well due to it not being flush. This rubber is very loose.

I will probably just return this and buy some tempered glass at Sam's they have ZAGG or just use the otterbox screen protector. This is Gorilla glass and unless you have keys in your pocket I don't see it getting scratched that bad. I must say the naked screen is simply amazing on these devices.

Sam's sells ZAGG glass for $30 and I can still order a Spigen, Poetic or Supcase for my phone and come out to around $50 and will stick with the commuter for now.

The commuter is a tad slick for my liking though but the back is bulky for protection.

I wonder since Otterbox has become so big now their QC is going downhill. Their older cases for like the S3, S4, IPhone 3g were tons better quality.

I had a Poetic case for my S6 and it's nice. It's like a cross between a Defender and Commuter and the Screen protector on it is fantastic and tight to the phone and not much dirt would get under it and it is a lot more clear and responsive and better material and it's less than half the price of the defender on amazon.

Have a look at the symmetry. I started with a commuter didn't like the feel too slick. The symmetry feels great. I've dropped the phone a few times from waist high and no problems yet. I've had no screen protection from day one. Love the naked screen. I can't find one scratch on it still looks great.

I'm shocked with the symmetry it didn't break since it's not a super thick case.

With the note 5 comING out I should be able to find deals on amazon. I want a spigen tough armor and maybe a Spek Mighty shell too. Something easy to remove when I want to swap cases.

I kinda like the supcase too.

I have a defender on my note 4 and it is a very tight fit sounds like you fort a old one the outer rubber on the older ones didn't fit right at all sender to otter box I bet they will make ît good for ya

Maybe so but the hard plastic shell also didn't clamp tight all the way as well. I'm using my commuter again and using the Invisishield ZAGG glass on it which looks really nice.

When the Note 5 comes out the note 4 cases will be discounted and I'll get a couple thicker ones Amazon for this.

I own a Defender and the hard plastic doesn't snap together that well either. The rest of the case seems to fit fine though. However, the Defender suffers from the "grease slick" due to the plastic screen protector sitting above the phone glass. What I did was installed a glass screen protector on the phone, and removed the plastic screen protector on the case. Perfect!

Then I got tired of the Defender being so dang huge and went with the Samsung Protective cover. Very nice, fit's great, and solid for a minimal case.

THe Defender for the Note snaps together differently than the S6 case. There are many other bulky cases out there now cheaper than the Defender and better quality. It seems all the major retailers all have mainly Otterbox though. Amazon is the way to go.

I use the defender case with a tempered ,glass protector just poped out the plastic screen protector of the case. Ppl complain it's to bulky I love it fits on my phone with no problem no issues with it.

That's why I would get the Commuter.

I just checked for the Defender at Amazon, Because I just upgraded my husbands phone from a Note 2 to a Note 4....$53 for Black....WOW, I paid $22 on Amazon for his N2.

2 years later take his N2 out of the defender and it is like Brand New!

Quality comes at a cost. 😁

I have the defender, with a zagg glass protector. I took out the plastic cover off the defender. My defender didn't snap the whole way either so I got on their website and filled out a claim and they sent me another one at no cost. The replacement did the exact same thing did not snap all around, again I filed a replacement and they sent me another. Finally this one works.
