Out of date software but no updates available?

Hi guys,

I bought my S23+ on Rakut*n because It was way cheaper where I live (Belgium)…and you guessed It, It’s not updating.
I read your post, thanks for the links.

I installed the last version of Frija, I tried automatic and manual check for update without success. He can’t find any update.
I also checked on SamMobile website and same problem, there’s no firmware based on my config:
  • Model: SM-S916U
  • CSC: GCF
I have a few questions; hope you can help:
  1. What’s the difference between SM-S916U and SM-S916U1 ?
  2. Is It important to download a firmware with the same CSC?
  3. Which firmware would you recommend?
  4. I’m still on One UI 5.1, any risk to update to a major update (6.0) ?

Just for your information, I contacted the vendor but he proposed me that I send him my smartphone, so he can update It…but I’m not willing to do that.

Finaly I didn't flash my S23+ but I changed the CSC from GCF to DSA.
Then, OTA was working and I got all the updates, one by one :)

To change the CSC, It was easy:

I didn't know which CSC to chose, so If you have any recommandation, here's the list of available CSC for my phone:
ASR | ATT | CCT | CHA | DSA | DSG | DSH | TMB | TMK | USC | VZW | XAU | FKR | GCF | XAA

I live in Europe, but so far no network issue with DSA.

Thanks,

How can I know which firmware is compatible?
And what does the SM-S916U1 will change on my phone?

US has 2 versions
SM-S916U=carrier version
SM-S916U1=unlock firmware (no carrier bloat)

All US firmware are compatible from carrier to unlock or unlock to carrier.

You will need Prince comesy (Patch B) Odin

Ho I see, that's strange because I don't see any carrier bloatware on my phone...or maybe they are hidden.

For now, everything is working fine so I'm not sure If It there's any benefits to change the firmware.

No worries just something to think about in future.
