I'm new to smart phones, but this has me foxed.

I have two @talktalk.net email addresses, and I can add them to the standard email app.

The phone will download and continue to recieve incoming emails, and appears to send outgoing emails, using the smtp.talktalk.net server. The outgoing emails go into the outbox, and then into the sent box, so I presume that they have "left the phone"... The problem is that they are never recieved at the other end, by a variety of recipients whom I know are working OK.

I have also logged on to my talktalk webmail, and sent an email from there, and that is recieved no problem by the same recipients.

Has anyone got any suggestions?

I have spoken with both Tesco and Talktalk, and they seem to be out of ideas.

Thank you

When you login to your webmail account do you see the emails that you sent from your phone in your Sent Items folder. If not, then it sounds like they definitely haven't been sent as they haven't got as far as the server.

When setting up your email on your phone did you let it setup the settings for you or did you do a manual setup. If you didn't do a manual setup then it may be worth double checking that you are using the correct ports and server settings. You could post some of them here for another talk talk user to validate maybe. I'm not with talk talk so can't help with that.

Same issue for me with the stock email app on 4.4.2 and a talktalk email address. Have not managed to resolve so ended up trying a third party email client (K9) which works just fine on the same settings. Stock email is now disabled on my phone.

after messing with this last night i now appear to be able to send emails when i'm at home (on talktalk broadband) but not when i'm out and about on mobile network.

The settings are as follows:
incoming POP server mail.talktalk.net on port 110 with no security
outgoing server smtp.talktalk.net on port 25 with no security and no sign-in.

are there any other email clients that anyone would recommend as an alternative to the stock "email" app on 4.4.2?

As it works from home it would suggest that talk talk are not accepting the mail when it doesn't originate from their network in some way. Bit beyond my knowledge now though but may be worth tinkering with the outgoing security and sign in settings to see if changes to them get it to work when you're using mobile data.

An email client that I have used previously is SolMail that worked well.

Have you thought about setting up a Gmail account and linking your talk talk accounts to it and then using the Gmail app instead. I always warn people against relying on their ISPs mail system as it then makes it difficult to move away in the future but using Gmail or Outlook/Hotmail means you aren't stuck if you move ISP in the future.
