Hi guys, i've had this problem many times... when you add your 'outlook' accounts to sync to your android phone, make sure you add the accounts through 'microsoft exchange' and not just the outlook options. it gives the full list of options for what to sync.
contacts , calendar, etc. then when you go to your android calendar app , your outlook accounts should be there as options.

Anyone found a solution for this besides downloading the outlook app...experiencing the same issue. Added exchange active sync..email syncs ok but exchange calendar not showing up and cannot add because it says 'email address already in use'.
***UPDATE
weird suddenly started working. (This is for the S6 Edge)..swipe down, select settings icon (gear); swipe to 'personal'; select 'accounts';select 'Microsoft Exchange Activ..' Ensure the 'on' is green for Sync Calendar'; select 'more' (top right); 'sync now'.
Swear that's all I did , (which I thought I'd done before) and the active sync account showed up under calendars and appointments started populating. Hope this helps someone.
Here's an option that actually works like Exchange without Exchange. Did I just contradict myself?!Take a look at AkrutoSync (Automatically Sync Outlook Across All Devices | AkrutoSync). If you prefer not to sync Outlook with the cloud, this will do the job and keep your contacts and calendar updated. HTH
Found a solution.
1. Install Nine (trial). Type in your email details. Sync.
2. Open the account settings in Nine. Write down all the details of your server. The most important info is the server address. Mine is dub408-m.hotmail.com
3. Open Accounts in Settings. Remove your existing Exchange ActiveSync account. Create a new one. Choose Manual Setup.
4. Type in the details (server) you wrote down from Nine. The calendar should sync now without problem.
5. Uninstall Nine. Voilà! Not sure if it works for you, but it did for me...
