So my OV is broken and I don't have insurance which means I have to pay full price for a new phone. I'm not sure what I want to get. The Motorola Triumph looks nice but its Motorola so idk lol. The HTC wildfire s looks nice but the only difference from the OV is sense and a more updated processor. There are also many other choices. What do you guys think I should get?

Might as well jump in the T-Mobile Prepaid bandwagon like everyone else

Get some better coverage, speeds & nicer phones.

I'd just get another one. We have a strong Dev community. It's cheaper too. I won't "upgrade" from my OV until there is a decent Dev Community formed around the new phone. Possibly even wait until there is a port of Cyanogen to use as a daily rom.

the Huawei Ascend from MetroPCS

obviously im joking. please stay far, far, FAR away from that phone. it may run android but its not even as functional as JohnsPhone.

For the money the OV is your best choice and if we get the option of the Black here in a few months then you might look there, but even then you will get some if not most of your money back out of your OV.

I agree that the Tmobile plans look tempting but unless you are willing to REALLY commit to a VoIP solution - you better not talk much as I think their value plan only has 100 minutes. If you got into VM before the price hike (I just barely squeaked in myself) then I would stay here as long as coverage is good in your area.

Heck look for a used OV on Ebay even

Buy one at target, they have a 90 day return policy. The next best phone should bee out by then and you could return the ov :)

I'd also say just get a new one. OV rules.

Like someone else brought up, I was/am contemplating a move to T-Mobile, but loving my OV and it's dev community is one of the "cons" on my list if I did leave VM.

Im feeling like upgrading from the OV. But the OV has an awesome community so Idk. I'll just wait and see. Optimus slider would be nice if the hardware was actually updated.

The Optimus Slider does have an 800 MHz CPU going for it. If I had to start from scratch, I'd probably go with the OS instead of the V... But considering you can get the V for 99 dollars it might be best to go with the V and save the extra 75 dollars for the future.

I replaced my ov with a new one (2.2, crappy hitachi screen, no access to the bootloader) when i goobered up beyond repair the first one I bought.
no other options with the same price range and software flexibility that I could find.

@OP: I don't suppose you just broke the screen or something? I sure could use a replacement board for my first one... it'd help if the ESN was clear, but I don't care as much about that. All the parts of my old OV are excellent except for the flash chip, which has been software-obliterated to the point the phone doesn't even recognize the power button or power cable anymore to turn on. Dead board since I can't solder in a new NAND myself and LG wants from $40-$100 to fix it (they won't even give a decent quote for repair on the phone.)
