Over the air update this morning...

I know the update is available in my area, and even if it's not, the original update is most definitely available. I don't care as much about this most recent update, but the last one was supposed to improve the radio and battery. I can't even update the first one. I will not be able to update any future updates. I can't connect period. See what my problem is? It's not so much this last update that I can't get, it's any update. So when something a little more important comes out (JB or something else) I won't be able to get it.

For those who can't get the update - and this may have been mentioned already: Go to application manager and find "AT&T Software Update". Tap it and then clear data and force stop it. Then reboot your phone and check for the update again.

I received my update the other day. It gave me a brightness slider bar in the notification drop down also my browser and messaging is slightly different. But I have been having severe battery drain since the update.....before I was getting 20+ hours on medium to heavy use and after I'm getting about 6 hours. Anyone else having this problem? Any advice and help is appreciated :)

I have a rooted GSIII (UCALEM) and tried to update OTA.....OTA didn't work so I updated via keis.... messed up everything. Finally managed to restore a backup and haven't attempted the update again. I'm thinking about trying to get it again tho.

Has anyone tried a temp:unroot w/root keeper, update and restore root?
Anyone?????

roadrash & njmillre.. you seem to be the only two reporting this issue. Am curious what color your phones are and when you got them. Also my local ATT store says that ATT is rolling out the update by region so swapping the microSIM won't make any difference.. Am going to check some other GS3 forums to see if the issues are widespread rather than risk installing the update when my phone is working very nicely. The Samsung chat tech told me that not installing the update doesn't impact the ability to get the JB update when that's released. And needless to say since that will be a BIG one, I'm going to play wait and see until I install that one too..

jontalk - I am using a blue one and I got it through ATT Business (TX) right when launched

Wow.. interesting... I just did a check on WiFi and it said 'software is up to date' You can check again in 5+ hours.. Maybe it's the IMEI number? Regardless it appears its buggy anyway, and since my phone works fine, I don't want to do anything to screw it up.. Great battery life too right now! Cheers!!

Buggy how? I got no issues. (knocks on wood, crosses toes...) and it made my phone very happy with the new keyboard. Did I mention I'm limping around on three legs after the keyboard update? The update also fixed a bug in the stock calendar. It now recognizes all addresses, even subtle stuff like city hall, Little Italy, etc, and brings up google maps when the highlighted text is selected. Definitely happy I went for it.

I'm having the same battery issues you described, hopefully the JB update resolves...

What's with updates that take away options? I just figured out that I have lost the option to select my Wi-Fi bandwidth connection. There used to be a selection for auto, 2.4 or 5.0 MHz. Now, no ability to make the selection.

Any non-root solutions to get back the Wi-Fi options?

So is this update also supposed to fix the vulnerability issue in the stock browser being reported today? Since I never use the stock browser, nor have I rec'd the update, I'm not going to be concerned. I much prefer Chrome or Dolphin any day of the week :)

I received this update last week in Raleigh, NC although I live in DFW. It tooks me like three weeks or so to get the original update. I did the test that AC has here regarding the new Samsung security bug and my phone did not show the IMEI in the dialer.

OK....I rooted my AT&T GSIII, installed goo manager/TWRP. I Temp.unrooted with OTA RootKeeper and downloaded the update.
When the update tries to install, TWRP opens and aborts the update installation.
Does anyone have anything on this????

Ok, maybe I just forgot where it was, but I swear I now cannot find the settings section where you can set voice commands for the lock screen. I set an unlock voice command and one to enable the camera and music. I want to change the unlock command now and I can't find where to do it since the update. I have S-Voice disabled....would that have anything to do with it? I could've sworn I did this in the settings completely outside of S-Voice, but I know I saw the setting in S-Voice at one time too. Someone please confirm/deny my sanity! :)

Ok, I still have yet to receive this update. I keep trying to check for update but nothing shows up. Now, I've been seeing the little arrows in my notification bar, and then they'll go away and my screen will flash real fast, and it says att software update but it goes to fast I can't do anything with it. Any ideas?

I haven't rec'd the update either.. Am beginning to think it's because my phone is newer, but have no clue. Meantime, as I read others having issues like texting and battery life, I think it's a blessing in reality. Since I don't use the stock browser and not concerned about the vulnerability issue either.. My phone runs great and just installed the Asphalt 7 game and Ocean HD on the $.25 sale and they both run great!! The Asphalt 7 game totally rocks btw!

I as well don't use the stock browser. Dolphin all the way. I have the red one, which I believe you've mentioned you have as well. Not sure if that'd make a difference. Who knows. And I downloaded asphalt 7 earlier as well, game is awesome!
