Over the air update this morning...

I received my update the other day. It gave me a brightness slider bar in the notification drop down also my browser and messaging is slightly different. But I have been having severe battery drain since the update.....before I was getting 20+ hours on medium to heavy use and after I'm getting about 6 hours. Anyone else having this problem? Any advice and help is appreciated :)

Yes, I am having the exact same issue. What's up with the brightness slider bar btw?? Seems really out of place. I don't like this update at all. I think it has also screwed up my tethering through Power Toggles and Foxfi.

I am gonna enable S-Voice to see if I can find the setting in there. Will let ya know how it turns out.

UPDATE: Yep, that was it. The setting is now only accessible in the S-Voice settings.

OK....I rooted my AT&T GSIII, installed goo manager/TWRP. I Temp.unrooted with OTA RootKeeper and downloaded the update.
When the update tries to install, TWRP opens and aborts the update installation.
Does anyone have anything on this????

OTA requires unroot AND stock recovery.

You can still root it after. I did with a toolkit.

Yeah, I got that.
I've read a lot of posts that identify some weirdness, so I'm not sure how revved up I am about "possibly" messing with my phone all weekend to get it right again if things go south.
I know....I can do a TWRP backup, temp.unroot, unistall goo.manager, update, then follow all that stuff backward.
Just not sure the benefits out weigh the means. I'd rather do all that crap when jelly bean gets here. That will be brain damage with suffering through.

I hear that. My phone is completely stock, the update went smooth as glass, and I gained at least two features/bug fixes that made it much easier to live with. This from a simple guy who basically makes calls, reads email, and occasionally navigates, looks something up on the net, or takes a jobsite picture for later reference. Smart people might get a lot more benefit from the update. That said, there are apps that still do as good or better a job than the stock features that were improved. So why update if it's that much risk and extra work and you can't really see the benefit? Someone started a thread on features. If it could remain unmolested by extraneous posts, it would help people on the fence decide if it's worth updating.

Yes, mobile data is on and I did a hard reset by removing the battery - still fails every time e I try to send a text msg

Well cr@p! I called ATT and the rep tested my ability to send and receive messages by sending me a text and having me text him. Worked just fine until I tried to text my wife - which failedgain. I hate going to the ATT store,

Do you have any more information on this? I am in exactly the same position (AT&T GSIII with goo manager/TWRP and OTA RootKeeper). I did a temp. unroot and uninstalled goo manager, but the update continues to fail, since when the phone reboots it keeps going into TWRP and not stock recovery. I have tried to find how to revert to stock recovery, but besides flashing stock ROM I have not found an instruction how to do this. Any help is appreciated, since I would like to apply this update and also do this as a test run for the upcoming JB update.

I got nothing, man. Haven't messed with it. As mentioned, a lot of problems have been reported..... I was thinking about passing on it. I would have thought if goo.manager was deleted....TWRP wouldn't come up, as it's a "product" of GM.
Anyway, if I try again, I'll post my results.

Well..... I tried it. Temp.unroot, deleted goo.manager and tried to install the update. It started to install and twrp opened and aborted the update. That's weird. I would have thought twrp wouldn't open if gm was deleted. Whatever...... If anyone has suggestions, I'm open to then..
