Owned a Note 2, hated the Note 5, how is the Note 8 compared to the 5?

I owned a Note 2 when they first came out, loved it a year later broke it beyond repair. Went with Nexus and unlocked phones till I ran across a good deal on a Note 5 last year. That phone had terrible reception and pretty poor battery life, sold it and went with an LG V20. My company phone is a Galaxy S7, not edge regular S7. It's an OK phone nothing special. So you guys / girls who own a Note 8 and have owned previous Notes, how does it compare? Trying to get some real life owner input before dropping $900 on a phone. Thanks for any input. I'm on AT&T if that matters, it did matter on my Note 5, it had terrible cell reception.

I didn't like the N5 and so didn't have it to compare. I have had the N3, N4, N7, & now the N8. the N7 was everything the N5 wasn't, but the battery killed the deal. the N8 is nearly on par with the N7, which I totally loved, and I do love my N8. I say go for it. I think you will love the N8 too. they even have root for for the 950U snapdragon model, and the Europen variants, if you don't take the early updates. not sure where you are.

I have used Note 1 to N2 and N4....it's been few years that I have skipped 2 years of note 5 and note 7...
Been using Note 8 SINCE 12 days and I absolutely love it....
I stayed away from curve screen phone coz I had S7 edge and was a real pain to install a good screen protector mainly the tempered glass...
Now when Note 8 was launched the curve screen and fps placement put me off
But when I saw my friends phone and saw he had installed I tempered glass and the touch worked fine I like the fact that curve is minimal and fps placement I have got use to and even the iris scanner is super fast....
I say note 8 is one of the Best of the year

That's good to know, I had sprint for 2 years and if the cell signal is good on Sprint that is a household sign that Samsung and /or Qualcomm have improved with antennas and baseband software. Thanks

you're welcome. I've never been able to stream any music on data and even wifi was iffy at times, with an airave from Sprint. with the N7 & N8 both I've had great signals and can listen to Pandora all the way out and back, and I live in the boonies. loving it.

I love the Note 8 with all my heart. I came from the Note 5 though, which I also loved.... So I guess take this with a grain...

I've had the Note 2, 5, and now the 8.
While I miss the width of the others, I am more than satisfied with the 8.
I like live messages and the iris scanner the most.
I miss the old s-note features and front fingerprint sensor though.
