Owners, is the 6P really a quality product?

You will miss the moto actions. The ambient display nonsense on the 6p doesn't work worth a crap.

Yeah, feels a bit off. But at the same time, as much as I loved the Moto Display, I don't necessarily miss it but its still early.

Well that's convinced me I will be getting the Style asap as I am unsure about the Amoled screen and colour variances on screen as I couldn't put up with that, I am sure the 6P is a great phone but not £150 better than the Style!

Good choice, it isn't worth 150 more, that's for certain. I prefer the feel of the MXPE and the screen.

I have hopes software updates may improve the Ambient Display, but I am surprised to hear the battery life suffers as much as it does. I thought Doze would alleviate a lot of that problem and the 6P does have a large battery. I admit it is pushing more pixels due to the larger screen size, but not that much more.

Seems stock android is using more ram than in older versions. The 6p has total of 3gb but out of the box, mine had 1.6gb free available. That quickly dropped to around 1.1 with apps I have installed. Generally I have 900mb - 1.1gb of ram free. phone multi task well though and never gets slow so far.

The 6p feels and looks as premium as any phone. In comparison to the iphone 6 to me its right there with it. The screen is very nice, not calibrated as well as note 5 but its very nice all the same. Performance has been great so far. Everything being super snappy and ram management and multi tasking going well. It takes nice pictures from what I can tell.. Best pics on a nexus ever and at least comparable to the best smartphones. Good battery life so far, easily full day use. While sitting idle it sips power as it should, doze works for android. Nice sounding speakers with good loudness and stereo sound. Fingerprint scanner is super accurate and fast. almost never misses a read. charges really fast, not as fast as moto x pure but close. I only wish the snapdragon 820 was ready to go in the 6p but Google and Huawei did a good job with optimizing performance with the 810. This is the android device to get at a well rounded value.

I just got mine and I would say yes :). It feels very solid.

I am so pleased that most people say it is a premium phone and I do love the look of the 6P but even though I really really wanted the bigger battery on the 6P as I know the Moto battery life isn't that great I am going to get the Moto X Style as I would want to use the 6P naked (not me obviously) and I feel that the aluminium body will scratch easily and it would end up looking a bit scruffy and there have been a good few people saying that the screen has yellow hues and the colours are uneven on the screen and I don't think I could cope with that screen issue although I do like the idea of a punchy coloured screen and it is £150 more than the Style and for me the 6P won't be that much better but both are great phones :) Fingerprint scanner would have been nice though :)

I was able to play with one today for an extended period of time (don't quite have mine yet but the order is 'processing'!), and this thing is flat out premium. As nice or nicer than the iPhone 6S+ (and looks a lot better too IMHO). Really a great product, I can't wait to get mine. Absolutely lightning fast, near-instant fingerprint reader. I'm as bad as anyone for looking at benchmarks, wishing it had a faster processor, etc. but when everything is instantaneous with zero lag, does it really matter? I'll never notice if the SD 810 heats up an extra couple degrees or throttles slightly after heavy use.

I did not find the power button overly sensitive at all, it was just right. Only thing I wasn't a huge fan of was how it woke up every time you moved it even a little bit to show you the time/notifications, but I think you can turn that off. I personally preferred sRGB mode, it didn't seem to affect the whites (which is always what I am most picky about) but it tones the colors down to what you would see on a Nexus 5 (had a N5 and Galaxy S6 right beside the 6P). The Galaxy S6 colors burned my eyeballs more than the 6P did, both on their standard color modes haha. The N5 looked dull next to the other two, but it probably had the most accurate saturation (very similar to 6P on sRGB). So, if you liked the N5 screen and/or are use to the saturation levels, you will probably like sRGB mode on the 6P. If you are coming from a Samsung device, leave it as is :)

I have fairly large hands but 1-handed use was not an issue whatsoever for me, and the size wasn't nearly as daunting as I've been led to believe by reading some posts. Just my thoughts of course.

I've read Huawei has been known to make junk products not particularly cell phones.

Anyone have any long time experience w/ the company's phones?

I've been using the Huawei Ascend Mate 2 for the last year and zero problems. And that was their midrange US offering. Great hardware and software except for UI.

Is the Nexus 6p a fingerprint magnet, particularly on the front? I have seen some smudges on the front and graphite backs on YouTube reviews/unboxings. I have the Sony Z3v and it's the worst fingerprint magnet and I'm over the constant wiping!

FWIW - I tested phone screens at 3 Verizon stores this week. Overall, the LG V10 seemed to have the best non-smudge factor. The Turbo 2 came in second place, but I would rather get the 6p or Moto X Pure over the latter phones because they're cheaper and non-bloated.

I have the aluminum 64gb. This phone lives up to the premium namesake. I have several friends with an iPhone 6 and the 6P is definitely on par if not better. The aluminum looks stunning; I'm glad I picked that color. The phone feels fantastic in the hand. I'm actually thinking for using it without a case because it feels just perfect.

Performance wise, it is buttery smooth. I'm coming from a Note 4. Got the 6P for the pure Android experience and I'm very impressed. It just feels so liberating to be able to delete apps at will. I did the device to device transfer so it copied a lot of the Verizon and Samsung bloatware over. One by one I'm able to completely remove them. Haven't witnessed any lag or hiccups at all. The screen is gorgeous. I did a side by side with my Note 4 and although it's close, I'd give the edge to the 6P.

One of the biggest complaints I have on the Note 4 is that it got warm to hot, especially when getting lots of group texts. Happy to report that this is not the case with the 6P. It only got warm when I transferred my data over from the Note 4 but nothing too bad. Basically played with it for a few hours with lots of group texts and it didn't warm up to any noticeable level.

It will be a few days before I can report battery and camera performance but so far I'm very impressed.

Not for me. I have the aluminum version. Some people have complained that the oleophobic coating is uneven but mine if fine.
Though, I don't think that would be my driving force for a smartphone. Carry a cloth with you.

austin, you really prefer the moto display? I have the pure, had it for a month, I CANNOT stand the LCD display. I am coming from an amoled 2013 moto X. The screen kills the experience with this phone. viewing angles are subpar and don't even get me started about lighitng up the entire screen for the active display notifications. It is so bad, I honestly will not consider another phone with LCD display because of this phone. If I payed 150 bucks for the phone, so be it, but not for a high'er end device. everyone is so caught up in resolution which has little to no impact on overall experience with the device. I'd take the 720 amoled on my ancient original moto X over this super high resolution Quad HD piece of crap LCD motorola used on the pure.

I am considering a 6p now, even though it is even more gigantic than the moto X just because it has an amoled display. I will not jump on any skinned sammy, LG, or HTC phones, so I am limited to moto X and nexus. really regretting holding on to the moto and not returning it, but I kind of thought I would come to deal with the screen. the more I use it, the more I hate it

Oh no just when I had made my mind up about getting the Style/Pure over the 6P you say you hate the LCD screen!!!! I was under the impression it is a great screen!

Mind you I haven't heard of many people not liking the Moto screen so I am sure I will like it, as the alternative is the 6P screen which seems to have a some colour issues of its own.

Got mine Aluminum 64GB last week and its great. Looks great, feels great and the sensor for finger print is super fast. Got it with the google clear frost case. Love this phone so far, coming from the Nexus 5...the battery on this is amazing :)

Got it on Wednesday last week and I am in Canada. So pretty impressed on how fast the pre-orders shipped.

I am so confused as I want a new phone and the Moto X Style was going to be the one but then the 6P was released because of the battery size that is the one I was going to buy but now I am not so sure.

Now forget that bending video which is obviously nonsense but I have read a few posts from owners saying the QC is poor and the phone isn't a premium phone! So I just want honest opinions on the fit/finish/quality etc as I did really want this phone but now I am not so sure and am wondering about just getting the Style instead so before I do any opinions would be much appreciated as on the XDA forums I have read some posts from owners saying that the 6P is made from poor quality materials! Of course I know there will be many different opinions but it would be good to hear some from people who actually have the phone.

Thanks.
The best advice anyone can give is to handle both devices yourself. Everyone has different tastes. Buy the style, keep the receipt and do a rest run. Do the same with the 6P.
Or spend a lot of time playing with the Style in-store while you test out the purchased 6P. Put both through their paces. Really get a feel for them. Then make a decision. That's the best thing you can do. It's too much of a personal decision to leave it up to others to make the decision for you.

Thanks but I don't leave my buying decision up to anyone else but of course I do read reviews and user opinions, as for handling both devices none of the shops in my area have either phone so I would be buying blind with both phones and I really don't want to actually buy both units but that might be the only way.

I cannot stand LCD displays for TV/Movies and I would be fine with it in a lower end phone and fine with them for computer montors. the display kills the experience with this phone. You may not care about the backlighting/contrast, but all I see are it's flaws every time I use the device. I know I am being dramatic, but this phone should have had an amoled display.
