Verizon doesn't ignore the phones. The updates given are not directed by the carriers. The manufacturers release the updates on the phones to the carriers and then the carriers send out the release.

Verizon does have a say in what gets upgraded. For instance, HTC could offer Verizon a Gingerbread update, and if Verizon say no, the users do not get it. There is no other reason to explain why Euro HTC devices see 2-3 times as many updates. The carriers there have less control there.

Very true. I remember moto sending Verizon a update for the x and Verizon turned it down and sent it back to motor to work on.

As for the review.. very nice. We both get about the same battery life and are both heavy users. GSM model is a lot better of course and humming along fine on voda's hspa network ..

That is a very astute observation. I have been running the 2.3.6 GB leak on my charge for a week now and it's extremely stable and bug free. I can't help thinking vzw has had this leak for some time now and is holding off on the ota for the very reason you mention.

Glossy plastic has less tensil strength than plastic in general, as the plastic is actually thinner to make room for the gloss coat. Not to mention slipperyness and fingerprints. If that really was a design phase, it was a bad one for build quality.

Because, besides the cheap feeling phones (which actually hold up wonderfully) Samsung (ever since the original SGS line) has been a step or two ahead in hardware. Who has better screen tech than Super Amoled? Who has better processors than Exynos? I believe the reason there are not Exynos in the nexus is because it was said that the 4210 Exynos chipset (what's in the SGSII) wasn't compatible with the LTE radio. So, they JUST came out with the 4212's which are compatible with the LTE radio, but they are still in testing. Plus, Samsung is the only oem that is developer friendly. Google has stated that they are interested in a deeper partnership with Samsung. Why would they do that? For the reasons listed above. Samsung even hired Steve kondik (cyanogen).

Further, a Gloss will usually harden most materials.
