P3Droid Posts His Own Review

ZipKicker, CallerHoller,

The day I change my posts for p3droid is the day hell freezes over. Note, the AFAIK, and ifs and likely. They never were absolutes.

At any rate, I'll check with my own sources tyvm.

dont hate me for relaying info, i dont really care what you people fight about, its all nonsense to me.

He has given out the most info on the nexus that i've seen, and I appreciate it, for one.

I don't hate you whatsoever. I am simply saying I am not changing what I said, when it wasn't given in absolutes in the first place. Especially not by his request.

excuse me for saying, but that sounds very immature. I don't come here very much, and have no idea what the squabble is about, but from an outsider's perspective it just strikes me as petty.

Tweeting to someone to have info changed, that isn't their post, on a forum you are banned from is not immature and petty?

Alrighty then :p

Quality of certain elements on a phone is relative and subjective to its user. Yes, P3Droid said call quality was good but not as good as Motorola. "The Nexus performs well, but it is not as clear as my Motorola device. It is not bad either." To some people, in particular current Moto owners, this maybe important but to others, it won't be that big of a deal.

People certainly shouldn't expect amazing speakers on phones but some phone makers do speakers better than others. Again, it's all relative.

You don't care how light it is? Awesome! But not everyone is you.

Battery life is most definitely expected to suck given it's a 4G phone. Over time hopefully the technology will be there to make future radios and chip-sets more power efficient. I don't think anyone is debating that at this time. It's just not there yet.

Pointing out the potential cons over a phone is being a hater? No, I don't think so. We must be critical of the things we enjoy if they are ever to improve. The Android world shouldn't be surrounded with a fan base full of "yes-men" or "yes-women".

That being said...I agree that the phone, overall, is a complete package from hardware to software. It's going to be an amazing device and I'm definitely still going to get one. However, the main draw for me is stock ICS and not really the hardware (although I think it's just fine for me anyway).
Well put. You did a good job of highlighting the subjective issues involved and clarifying what a subjective is. For me the critical subjectives are the battery and the radio for voice communications. Call sound quality for me is iffy since I almost always use a BT headset and that will always skew things. My concern is how well will the phone do with a voice signal in the hinterlands. For example when I'm camping, there are times when others wont be able to make a voice call, but with my DX I can almost always get enough signal. For me this is critical since I am a scout master and there have been times that I have had to make emergency calls, be they to a mom or dad or to emergency services. I have also had to use weather bug to make minute by minute decisions on our activities and if we will remain in place or move / evacuate the area. Hand in hand with that is battery life. I can mitigate that with an aftermarket battery and charging stations. Build quality should be at least somewhat important for even the most pedestrian of users. However that can be compensated for by the right case (in my case it will probably be a Sedio or Otterbox). So for me things like camera speed, sensor ability, etc is just icing on the cake.

What's happened...a bunch of 12 year olds take over this forum? Why don't you all stop babbling back and forth so the thread can get back to its subject.

While I'm a little disappointed with his evaluation of the build quality (I, too, have had mostly Motorola devices in the past), I'm positive that the software will more than make up for that. My dream phone would be a RAZR with the Nexus' screen, camera, and stock ICS.

Welcome to the Internet, hope you enjoy your stay! Also, this thread was ever on topic? :-)

That was a nice review. I know I will like this phone a lot. The 1750 battery would have been good for me so, I know 1850 will be awesome. I also wonder how the new music player will sound because, that's something hard to judge unless you try it for yourself. I remember panda hinting that, maybe it was as good as beats audio but, he didn't say for sure. Either way I have poweramp to fall back on.

I think sometimes people (myself included) automatically jump to the light = cheap assumption. Plastics have definite advantages when it comes to cellular devices (see drop tests, signal strength, etc.) . I know they feel "cheap" and less substantial, but I think people get down on Samsung's build too quickly.

I had a fascinate and I loved how light it felt and it took a beating from being dropped or thrown with little damage. Samsung knows how to make their products, just because it is plastic doesn't mean it is junk. Too many people jump to that conclusion, I agree with you on that.

The question is that if the RAZR gets ICS in the next 3 months, which phone would you rather have?

Easy... the GN. The RAZR will still have blur, will still have bloat, and will still receive updates slower than the GN.

Also, if Verizon doesn't sell enough RAZRs they'll just ignore it when it comes to updates like they're doing with the Thunderbolt. Verizon only appears interested in what ever Droid phone is coming next.

I loved the whole idea behind Droid at first, but I chuckle every time I see a new Droid commercial. What ever happened to the Bionic?

Many people love the Bionic. It's not a bad phone - it's just the ugly stepson of the RAZR....

The big question is I don't know how heavy he really uses his phones - I'd like to see him say which phone got the best battery of the three.

By the way the Blur is not bad. The bloat can now be hidden - and waiting a few extra months for ICS is no big deal.

Verizon doesn't ignore the phones. The updates given are not directed by the carriers. The manufacturers release the updates on the phones to the carriers and then the carriers send out the release.

It's not just the Droid line and it's not just Verizon. All of the carriers are doing it. They push the next best thing until the next best thing is out. As long as the manufacturers are making new and better phones, the carriers will sell them.

The Bionic is a terrible example because of the delay. They couldn't cancel because they were too far into the development & production. It was supposed to bridge the gap over the summer between the T-Bolt and Razr, but delays ruined that plan.
