Package Disabler

It's what gives some people peace of mind I guess. But I also don't see any value with dealing with PD apps. I did it for years in the past and experienced no gains. All the apps I don't need I can disable natively or uninstall. I haven't found a piece of bloat that I haven't been able to do so.

My point exactly. Package disablers are not worth the cost, and is a solution in search of a problem.

Package disabler is very good tool to disable apps/system apps without root , it's not for everyone but for people looking to tweak more then average do . It's worth it's what 4.00 price tag.

there are apps that cannot be put to sleep, that run in the background, for services I do not need or want. you don't use them so cannot speak from a truly informed place. almost like you're taking the opposite side just to take it

why not live and let live?

What services?

What services?
Go to app then 3 dots upper right corner and scroll to system apps and look at the list that can run in the background . Take for example bixby I don't use much but has a lot of service running that can't be disabled.

Ok. f you go into Settings -> Device care -> Battery -> Settings, you can add Bixby (and any other app) as an always sleeping app, which means if you are not actively using it, it is sleeping and not using ANY battery or data.

The only thing a package disabler will do extra is remove it from your apps drawer.

The last couple versions of Android have given users more ability to control apps. Like I said, unless you have empirical data showing that package disablers actually improve performance, I'd like to see it. Until then, I'm saving my money.

why does this matter to you? I don't understand. does it harm you in some way? surely there are other apps people use that you don't. do you take such a hard stance with them?

save your money. no one is forcing you to buy, but let those of us that like them, and use them, be. not everyone will adhere to your choices. that's the beauty of America and android. everyone has choices.

Thats fine you dont want spend money on it , device care Putting Bixby to sleep is just home or vision , it has other list of services. Like I said you may have no use of it but others do .Screenshot_20191005-164422_Settings.jpeg

I don't worry about it. if they are not open they are not running and even if they are open, the majority of the time, they are sitting there using very little or no resources. Its the apps you download from the play store and install that really have to worry about - all the crazy permissions and calling home they do.

You seem very vested in being "right" in this discussion. I don't use a package disabler either, but I don't understand why it matters so much to you whether others want/need to use it themselves?

It's not about being right. It's about falling for the hype. All they hype is about how you can stick it in the OEMs eye or to get rid of bloat, when it reality, package disablers do neither. Yet, people fall for the hype and spend money on what is essentially a scam.

Cant make claims like that , since it's been proven to do what it claims.

I'm actually thinking about getting PD again. If I do it will be the 3rd time I pay for it.

I just installed PDPro because I have always used BK Disabler in the past but it won't work on my 10+, so simple 1 check and everything Bixby is disabled. Reading the comments about go into apps and disable, you try it with Facebook? It still runs and collects data even when you "disabled" in the app settings, it's been all over the news. Using these tools cuts it off. I will admit switching from Sprint to T-Mobile I have a lot less bloat but I still want total control over My phone.

Anything different from the older versions?
I haven't used it since it was out of the play store , but going purchase again .
I haven't had a chance to customize any my phones anymore because I don't stay on 1 more then 2 or 3 days always switch them up between 6 devices ..
Pixel 3a
iPhone X
Note 10+
Note 9
1+7 pro
S10 +

So in short. Disabling Facebook via settings doesnt actually really disable it. But PD disables it totally. Am i right? XD
