Package Stolen and Samsung Not Refunding!

I'll say this again. It is Fed Ex you should be dealing with, not Samsung.

It was their decision to leave your package without your knowledge or consent.

Samsung's decision to not require a signature has absolutely nothing to do with just leaving a package unattended without the knowledge of the customer.

Samsung will probably send him another device but they will be reimbursed by FedEx.

Probably due to covid. That's likely something Samsung worked out with the carrier. My iPhone 12 also didn't require a signature. And iPhone deliveries ALWAYS do.

Still, my Fed ex guy refused to leave mine without at least acknowledging I was home. Again, Fed Ex is where my focus would be. You'll get nowhere with Samsung.

Same with my S21, signature was required but didn't sign however he rang door bell and stood in yard til I came to door and got package. I assume if I didn't come to door he would have taken package.

I got a package over the summer that required a signature but FedEx just left it on my steps I think due to the pandemic so I wasn't expecting to have to sign for my phone but the driver had me sign on a touchscreen surprisingly. I'm glad to live in a small country town where everyone knows everyone and for the most part is well off middle class and don't need to steal other peoples stuff and on top of that, whenever we accidentally get a neighbors package or mail we always seem to make sure it gets to the rightful owner to the point of posting on our towns facebook page if we don't know the person off the top of our head we'll jump through all hoops to make sure that our neighbors misplaced mail or packages get to their rightful owner. Just a few weeks ago I had a neighbors package left on my steps and I made sure it got to them.

I'm having beef with fedex as well. Mine required signature and they held it for 3 days without delivering it to me. Then i got a notification that my phone was delivered and I signed for it! Um... no. I was standing on my porch.
I called fedex and they argued and said I signed for it. No I didn't. Then I called samsung and they also said it said I signed for it !!!! So I frantically start walking around the neighbors houses.
Here I found my phone 3 houses down on the doorstep of a college frat house... no one was home thank God. This is on fedex and I'm fine s complaint.

We live rurally in a good neighborhood and know our neighbors, which I'm thankful for, because since the pandemic started FedEx, UPS, and even the postal service have stopped getting signatures for things that require them....or even knocking on the door when they leave things like big screen tvs, phones etc on our porch. In fact the postal service left packages in front of our garage door so they wouldn't have to come to the door at all

They don't even ring the bell, just drop the package off and run away as fast as they can so they don't get covid lol. I understand the fear, but they're masked and gloved and so are we....there has to be some compromises made so people can get their packages safely. Leaving your packages and running away, while leaving you to deal with the aftermath of stolen packages is not doing their job, and neither is lying about deliveries.

"Again, assuming the recipient did not sign a signature release of some sort. This is why the signature release exists. The signature release states the shippers responsibility ends when the package is delivered to an unattended address. This is why the addressee has to sign it."

He explained this by the terminology "signature release." In order for Samsung to relinquish full responsibility, a signature would be required. Not just a drop and go situation.

During this pandemic if the package specifically states signature required the driver is not allowed to just leave the package and while you don't actually "sign" for it, the driver has to physically hand it off to someone at the residence.

And this is a issue to be resolved between Samsung and the courier FedEx not the receiver since the package was mishandled.

FedEx lied and said I signed for it... while my package was delivered 3 houses down to a college house.

Well after a few more rounds of talking to different Samsung representatives, I was able to get them to approve my refund. For background, here's the photo indicating the requirements for a sufficient police report:

report.png

I kept insisting that nowhere on this list does it explicitly state that an emblem is required (even though the example report has one). I asked them if I were to go into Acrobat Pro and add the emblem myself without altering any of the factual data and information, would it be approved. They put me on hold and then came back and said they would be issuing my refund.

This ordeal is pretty much over since I received an e-mail saying my trade-in process has been cancelled and I see the pending chargeback on my credit card. I also asked them if I were to re-order, would they be able to setup shipment to require signature, and they again stated that since the trade-in of my phone reduces the order amount to ~$200, that their system would not set up FedEx to require a signature and I should contact FedEx directly if I would like to request any special instructions for delivery.

I believe that I did not get back my Samsung Points which I used for this order (worth about $10). I also see now that the free accessories credit dropped to $50, when I was able to get $100 of free accessories when I placed my pre-order last week. I don't know if it's worth it to go another round with Samsung Customer Service or just cut my losses since those are minor in comparison and not try to deal with FedEx. I'm also debating just doing my trade-in with T-Mobile in-person at a store even though the trade-in deal will be monthly credits to my account instead of a full credit like Samsung.

You could also try Best buy, even though they don't sell T-Mobile version you can buy the unlocked version and do the trade in at the store and trade in value will be immediately applied to the purchase. So there is no hassle of shipping trade in phone etc.

The monthly credits are crappy in my opinion.

I had a issue with Samsung about a year and a half ago with a 43 inch tv that I got from Samsung was delivered by fed Ex . I called Fed Ex a day before delivery because I had a emergency and asked can I pick up the tv from the fed Ex location because I wasn’t going to be home . They said it was restrictions on it and I couldn’t get it held for pickup I didn’t understand why . Long story short they delivered the tv without requiring a signature or anything and left it outside my door of course someone stole it . Samsung gave me the run around I got a police report and everything they ask for but they was asking for something to be notarized and I told them listen I wasn’t at fault fed ex wasn’t supposed to leave my tv outside my apt door without a signature. They was supposed to put it back on the truck and attempt another delivery. I eventually got refunded 5 months after it happened but fed ex drivers are lazy and don’t care what happens to your packages once delivered

Glad you got it sorted out. Notice the Samsung "requirements" for a police report uses the word "should" as opposed to "must". Should is a passive request, not a demand or condition of acceptance.

Just get the phone from TMo and move on. Samsung direct sales is often a nightmare to deal with.

It sounds like it.... I'll keep that in mind  ;)

Dispute it with your cc company. They'll issue an immediate temporary credit while they investigate. Be sure to provide the cc company with a copy of your police report and any other notes or documentation you have. They'll figure out who's responsible and claw back the payment from them. You, most certainly, will not be required to pay for this.

Crazy but happy you got it sorted ...I'm not surprised I've seen plenty of packages delivered to me with no signature and expensive items ...

Apparently since my Samsung.com order included the trade in, the value of the order did not exceed $500 and no signature was required upon delivery. FedEx was so brilliant as to leave the package outside of my apartment building even though there's a sign in front of our building that clearly asks for people not to, and now my package has been stolen.

Samsung has requested a police report in order to issue me a refund, and when I sent them my police report, they are rejecting it because my precinct did not print out the city emblem on the report. When they sent me requirements of the police report, none of the requirements included an emblem. I've been contacting them daily since Wednesday when this occurred and have not gotten anywhere with them. They apologize that my package has been stolen and say they will help when I provide a police report with all the requirements.

Once the trade-in charges appear on my card, I'll be out $1000. I could use my renter's insurance but I'd still be losing my $500 deductible.

I'm sure my police department will look at me funny if I request a report re-printed on a form with an emblem, but it looks like I might have to make a trip down there soon...Any ideas on how to get better support from Samsung?!?

The package been leaved outside without signature have nothing to do with WHAT YOU OWN to Samsung, because the value of the phone still there!!!! they leaved the package outside no nocking the door as USPS did with mine have to do with the covid distancing issue .

FedEx left my Note20U outside in the snow, I was home and never heard a knock on the door and wasn't expecting delivery until the next day. Ordered from Best Buy.

Meanwhile even a SIM card with a retail value of $9.99 requires a signature upon delivery from Verizon. Lol

Samsung screwed me on promotional pricing Black Friday for the S9, haven't bought anything from them directly since as it was a horrible experience.

Glad you got it resolved. Samsung has horrible customer service, worst part about using their products.
