Panda says screen and battery suck?

He also said he gets 10 hours our of his Nexus S. So that's a 4 hour reduction from the previous model of the phone?

Yeah, but his Nexus S is more than likely running on 3G. That's a huge difference.

Honestly, I think everyone should know the battery life is not gonna be great. Have any LTE phones had great battery life? Why would this one be any different? If I get the Prime I'll probably cop a couple extra batteries like I did with the thunderbolt. Problem solved.

I'm always surprised that more people don't use one of these. I just swap batteries whenever I need to. It takes like 5 seconds and being able to do so is one of the reasons I like Android phones over the iPhone.

I to like the whole extra battery thing and prefer it over some of the extended batteries size. I just don't want to need to do it before lunch. I want a phone to make it with light to moderate use all day.For the days that are moderate to heavy I expect to need a bump charge or battery swap. I am also out in the field alot and then need plan ahead to carry a battery in my poket with my keys. Another way to look at it is, I want to tailgate, go into the football game and have enough left to find my ride home.

The way I use my charge I get 16 hours more or less out of it. And I actually do use it :)

This is my typical day: I consider myself a SERIOUS heavy user. I have 2 Exchange server accounts that are set to push emails 24x7. I also have a Gmail account linked to this site that gets flooded with emails each day. I'm not one for auto brightness adjustments. I'm on the web constantly. Not to mention I can't seem to stop messing with my phone all day. Anyway, I traveled and stayed at a hotel yesterday. I charged both the spare battery and the phone at night. Both got me through a full day, including the flight home. I have almost 4,000 in power without having a huge bump on the back of the phone. There have been instances where I've had to do a 3rd swap, but the spare is always charged by the time the one in use is almost dead.

I wrote this up for the TB forums and there was another version for the EVO. Any expectations that driving a Ferrai 600 miles on a full tank of gas are unrealistic. Yes, there are software improvements that can be made, adjustments to how radio's perform, underclocking, more efficient processors, etc... But overall the more these devices do, the greater the impact is going to be on a battery technology that hasn't changed in years. I will say this much: the first WiMax phone I owned had abysmal battery life. It barely made it through 3 hours without needing a charge. The EPIC 4G Touch on the other hand was much better due to adjustments made in how/when the 4G radio goes into and out of sleep mode. I believe there are opportunities for this on future LTE phones as well. So here's the article I wrote up. The assumption is that most of these settings will be on the Nexus Prime as well, but we won't know until it comes out.

Not arguing with you but if I could always stroll past the charging dock and do the battery swap, no problem. I am on call 24/7 and never know if it is going to be office day or a day in the field all day. I may not be typical but I just need enough charge for the unplanned what ifs.

From my experience... AOSP has brought a crapload of extra juice for me. I used to have my thunderbolt plugged in at work (I work overnight, 11 1/2 hours to 13 hour shifts). If someone were to code in the middle at night in the hospital I work at, I need my phone. I use it as a reference tools and to double check myself. I feel confident now with my current ROM, that I could leave my charger at home... with a stock battery. I didn't charge it at all last night once I left my car. Plugged it back in on my way home. Even with sense on a battery saving kernel, I had to charge it twice a night (I use it a lot). It was to the point where I brought my charging cradle to work. I'm all about simple and light now. I no longer bring my macbook as my Transformer has replaced it for most tasks and can go all night without a charge.

I prefer the extended battery. While not pleasant to look at, it allows me to push my phone to the max. High screen brightness, overclocked,4g on, constant media usage and more. I can use my phone the way i love. And extended batteries typically feel pretty comfortable in my hand. As good as i want the Nexus to look, i have no problem dealing with the look of the extended battery.

Me to I think I will get the extended Battery also.

an extended battery on the sexy g nexy is literally sacrilege!!!!! it shouldnt be done! i would carry 6 extra batteries before i put an extended battery on the the new nex

You know given how thin the Nexus may turn out to be, an extended battery may not be so bad. However, I always prefer using the original form of the device since I'm hardly ever away from a power socket for long.
