At first I didn't give the Evolte ANY kind of attention at all, the other day I played with an EVO in stores...first thing I noticed about the phone when I turned on the screen.........the screen. It looked...fake. Literally. I was blown away by it. It looked REALLY incredible. Blows my old 4S screen out of the water. Never been a HUGE fan on sense, but I've always liked the way the home screen looks. Anyways.. I was debating on getting this phone, or waiting for the S3. Mind you I only had about 4 days left to swap in my Nexus for either or (loved the nexus btw, just hated the on screen buttons [always hit home button while texting], and the battery died before I could walk out the door almost, haha). Well. I came home, did some research. The S3 only has a few software gimmicks that the evo doesn't. Also, I wasn't aware that the EVO was based off the One-X/S series. Welllll, I decided I'd get the evo. Picked it up yesterday. Was literally toying around with it all day.

I don't understand why people are turned off by the unibody construction and the fact that you can't take the battery out. I love the way that feels, I guess because I've had every iPhone to date. (yes, apple guy has been converted to android!)

I got off work, battery had 72% left. I texted throughout the day(8hr work day). Had a couple calls. Watched a couple youtube videos. I was NOT expecting it to last that long.

The CAMERA is awesome. I love taking macro shots with it. I didn't know it could pull them off as well as it does. Beats is a nice add on as well.

I love the phone, and wouldn't consider trading it in for the S3, ever. It feels so solid and more rugged than what the S3, i'm SURE feels like.

Question though. Has anyone sanded that glossy plastic backing yet? I bought some 400grit sandpaper to do so, even though I've got my phone in a case. I hate how..flashy that is. Love the flat black look on the bottom much more.

Sorry about the long read though, but I must say I am pretty impressed by this phone..

Really happy to hear you're loving it! I too love the unibody construction. It's the first "metal" phone I've honestly ever had, and it makes such a difference in the "feel".

I'd love to see some of your macro shots if you'd be willing to post them! That's one aspect of the camera I haven't played around with too much (I haven't had any decent subjects that have inspired me to go macro very often).

Oh and a few people have sanded down the back piece. One person did it with sandpaper, I'm sure you could find the thread somewhere buried here. It actually turned out looking really good, though I'm sure it's difficult and frustrating to get it "perfect". I kind of like the gloss to be honest, but it would definitely be an interesting project to take on.

I wouldn't sand it!, it's a nice phone with some character (kick stand, two time finish) why would you ruin it? Lol, I guess do what you do, this phone is brilliant, I haven't put mine down for 3 weeks, have not had any problems yet!

Instead of sanding the top go with the Diztronic Black TPU Case. I think it makes the phone look even better than stock, adds almost nothing to the size, and provides the protection of a case.

BTW, there are several threads around here with pics of this and testimonials.

I agree with everybody this is a wonderful phone I love it . I put a otterbox commuter case on mine and it didn't add hardly any size to it at all it's lighter in my pocket than my evo 3d was .

Ditto on the Diztronic case ... it's perfect and fits like a glove.
Oh, and welcome to Android - you are free at last from the tyranny of the 'i'

Thanks everyone. It's really a great phone, haha. ATM I do have a case..umm, it's the body glove one sprint offers, but I plastidipped it.

Do you all use screen protectors?

Here's a picture of the back. It'd probably look a bit better if I still wasn't messing with it while drying lol.

I am sorry but i have to say this case looks horrible. Maybe it is because i need something thinner. Why would you want a case that covers up the kickstand?

Anyway, to confirm others above, I ordered the Diztronic case and love it!
