Hi there,

I'm sorry to post this here, hope I'm not violating any rules. I posted in the Market Help section several days ago and didn't get a response. Maybe nobody uses that are to much or something.

Anyway I have some questions about paying for apps in the market and I will paste the link in below to my original post so as not to duplicate it:

Thanks in advance for all helpful replies!

If Google wants thier market to be successfull they really need to set it up like Apple where you can go into a store and buy and "Google Market" card for $10/$15/$20.

Sorry I don't feel comfortable giving my credit card info in the market.

It uses google checkout. All you need to do is have payment info set up at checkout.google.com.

I wish more places used google instead of paypal

Just make sure to use a credit card for your Google Checkout account and not a bank card. This way you'll be protected from fraudulent charges and not be out your own money.

I think the marketplace is easy to use and fast.

I used to love paypal and eBay. But over the years they've gone downhill with their fees and freezes and requirements. They request too much info. I cancelled both last week.

Obopay is much better for now.

Thanks for all your responses. The Market really needs to get this set up with a cart. Paying for one app at a time is tedious and ridiculous if you want more than one. I have like 6 of them I'm testing that I may want to buy so that means 6 trips thru the buying process for a buck or two. That's like writing six different checks for items $3 or less each. Ugh. Well, at least I know now, thanks.

I assumed that the Market was safe to give credit card info. We'll see...

Does the Market release your credit card information to the sellers?
I assumed that the Market itself would charge me and pass a percentage along to the seller.

I wish there was a Wish List or Bookmark type of feature in the Market.
Just because I see a cool looking app while browsing the Market doesn't mean that I want to purchase it at that exact moment.

Chrisy was talking about not using your DEBIT card. With debit cards if something happens and some hacker gets hold of it and uses it you wind up having to pay for some or all of it. I think it depends on the bank. If you use a CREDIT card then you are covered. I had this happen so I learned. It's not just the Market this applies to either. You really should not use DEBIT online. There just isn't as much protection as if you use a credit card.

Deb, one technique I use is I have a small account that I put maybe 50 to 100 bux in just for purchases like movies or extras for my phone (it's actually my allowance form my wife...hehehe). That way if the account gets compromised they would only get 100 bux at the max from me...just a thought.

And hopefully you don't have an over draft protection set on that account otherwise they'll get more than $100 plus you'll be stuck with paying the finance charge on that over draft protection plus whatever amount was used on it...just a thought.

I think that you could probably use one of those prepaid credit cards or gift credit cards, if you're worried about theft or overdraft fees.
They won't allow more than the prepaid amount to be charged.
