Haven't conducted an official test yet, but initial impressions reveal they are very close in charging speed. I have a NExus 5x USB-C PD charger.

I would say the QC is a bit faster.

Anyone else run an official test with both chargers to test?

Unrelated side issue: I've run into some issues with my desktop USB-C PD card turning it into file sharing mode instead of charging. Have had to reset to charge only and reboot to get it to work. But comes back at times.

Not an official test but my USB-C PD is slower then my stock LG QC 3. Interesting I only get 740ma while charging on PD but 1740ma on QC .

QC has been about 20 minutes faster on average to charge empty to full.

Through testing I have determined the V30 supports 5V 2A and 9V 1.67A via USB-PD. If your charger only supplies 5V then you will not see full speed charging.

Weird. I thought USB-C standard is 5v and 3a. Pretty sure I am getting 3a, but will have to check it again using my ampere app. I have read though, its tough to properly test it since LG seems to throttle charging when the screen is active.

FWIW, LG said the two technologies were equally fast in their press conference (around 7:30 mark). 50% charge in 35 minutes.

Yeah, this is what I assumed since they have been shipping each type depending on which carrier/model in some cases - at least the impression I got from some early unboxing reports. I guess hard to say since no one will have an OEM of each type charger. Some wide varieties of PD chargers.

I have a USB C cable with a meter and several different chargers and devices. Something interesting to note is that my partners note 8 does support 3A at 5V.

My Nexus 5x (also made by LG) supported 5v 3a - that's why it seems wrong that the V30 only goes 2a... maybe something to do with dual QC3 compatibility if true

Does the Nexus 5x support 9V over USB-PD?
I would say no. They would have included a 9v charger as the fastest option it if did. It doesn't support qc2 either. It's the most basic USB 2.0 c type with 5v over 3a. At the time of this phone release, I only remember seeing 9v USB c with the pixel and some apple notebooks.

My guess is there is some increase in BOM that support for 3A would incur that can be avoided by supporting 9V at lower amperage. It is also interesting that budget phones with fast charging capability are using Qualcomm QC rather than USB-PD. Perhaps USB-PD is not as cheap to implement as QC because of the need to support 5V 3A since that is what most PD chargers are.
