So i have had my s6 since last year and was on 5.0. I been using pdanet and foxfi key for the longest with no issue. Then a few weeks ago when 5.1.1 came out i was tempted and updated. At that point I saw no issues with pdanet and continued to use it. Now for some odd reason pdanet turns on but then when I get to the mobile hotspot screen and click "on" or whatever, it doesn't turn on.

After trying to turn it, I get the normal message of saying I don't have a subscription. This is the first time this has happened to me. I am not sure if this is an OS issue or I'm being blocked by Verizon.

I don't have Internet at home my wife tether is everything for me. Any suggestions?

It's Verizon. If you don't have a tethering account, you can't tether. (They used to let you tether, but not handle the tethered data - with the update, they just don't let you tether. The end result is the same.)

Ya I'm so pissed. I average over 175gb monthly and everything was fine yesterday but now doesn't work. Sucks their is not root right now for this phone on verizon. I'm screwed.

It wouldn't matter if the phone were rooted, they'd dtill drop your tethered packets on the floor. (And they can cancel your account, and if you're still on contract, charge you an ETF.)

Really? I thought some of the apps while rooted bypassed or even a method to take off the subscription checker could work.

well for all of us that have the grandfathered unlimited data and used to tether with foxfi until recently, I suggest that every night before going to bed, turn on netflix on your phone and start a movie and let it play with the sound off, or view something on you tube and let it cycle to the next suggestion in the queue all night long!!!

You can either pay $30 for the unlimited unthrottled 4GLTE hotspot addon or buy a 4GLTE wifi hotspot and put the sim from your phone into it.

Sent from my Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 5

I got the email from pdanet and turns out on that Thursday, Verizon had some glitch. I can tether now, but i was not aware that adding the 30$ tether plan was unlimited.

After reading this, I uninstalled my PDAnet app on my samsung s4 and went back and reinstalled my FoxFi w/o root and it was working again!!!! I am very careful that I do not update the OS (It wants to bring me up to 5.x but I refuse to let it.) I also do not update FoxFi as long as its working...goes with the saying, why fix something that is not broke..LOL My tether is back :D
