Believe it or not, I have never used cases for my PDAs and phones. I know its a good idea, but I just don't like the extra bulk. That said, I probably will get a case for the S3, perhaps a high end leather or maybe even a metal case. I always tell myself this, however, so who knows if I actually will buy a case this time.

I'm calling bad lighting on that pic. There are scores of detailed reviews, and even more Youtube vids and not a single person has mentioned that it looked purple. On the contrary, the Youtube reviewers of the blue model have been saying how "awesome" the blue looks in person.

Not hating on anyone that bought the white, I'm glad you got what you wanted. But I'm throwing a penalty flag on that pic

We really can't say until we see it in person and even then the tint will most certainly vary according the lighting and angle. I was looking at a Sammy Galaxy Note the other day and it was about as black as black could be but the salesman turned it this way and that to show that he could momentarily make it look only slightly purplish.

Funny how there's no reflection of purple neon light on the white phone.

FWIW, I agree the picture does not represent the actual color of the blue version but it has nothing to do with purple neon lights.

Just like most of us, I ordered white because I didn't want to be stuck with a potentially purple phone.

I would have been fine with a white back if the front surround would have been black like on the HOX. But I don't want to stare at a white bezel out in bright daylight so I plan to embrace the strange and rock the blue version.

Here's a review with what appears to be photos taken by the reviewer. Pebble blue definitely is not Barney purple.
