Pentile screen?

After using a nexus s for 3 weeks i have to say this screen is much better. Oled is awesome for color and blacks but that pentile set up was even worse than this one. I still see some stuff like when deleting widgets and stuff but gor the most part i like this phone much better.

There is nothing wrong with some people not noticing anything, that's great for them, but really Cubfan? You've been complaining about trolls but all you are doing is trolling. You act as if every time someone makes a complaint about the Pentile display its directed at you.

Obviously this is an opinion populated thread, and everyone should have the right to voice that opinion, but there's no reason to mock people who don't share the same opinion as you. I respect that a lot of people will not have the same views as me on the Pentile display and that's fine, but I wanted to reach out and find if anyone else did share my view, not get attacked for my view.

Please just try to keep this to a mature discussion about the Pentile display, not an all out attack on anyone who complains about it.

Seems simple enough, if the screen doesn't work for you then return the phone and get what does work.

I checked out this phone in the Sprint store today and didn't see any problems with the screen. I checked out the Evo 3D too, and didn't notice too much difference, except that the 3D effect made me want to gouge my eyes out. Sense is nicer than Blur, but I'm sure I can get used to it... or better yet, eventually root and flash a custom ROM.

As of this afternoon, my new Photon is on it's way from Wirefly ($149). :)

I agree, and I hope everyone takes your advice. So far, I've been told, on separate occasions, that I need to get my eyes checked and that I must be blind because I don't see the effects some are complaining about.

I bought my Photon a few days ago at Radio Shack ($99 if you're adding a line or a new activation). The qHD display is actually pretty nice. At first I noticed the screen issues, they are definitely there, but if I'm not specifically looking for them I don't really notice them. The screen is very bright and the blacks are almost as good as my old Epic 4g's Super AMOLED display. The resolution is fantastic. As I use the device in normal everyday use I can sometimes see the screen issues, but for the most part I don't notice them unless I am looking for them. Like others have said though, everybody's eyes are different and if the screen really bothers you take the phone back and get something you'll enjoy. You're going to have to live with this phone for 22 months (unless you pay full price for something else or are a premier gold customer and qualify for an upgrade after a year).

Sorry you took it that way. Certainly didn't mean to attack, but did want to help those who others said needed their eyes examined. If you took offense to something i said, I apologize.

For the record, I also once disliked the screen, but it grew on me. Still too much black in video and not enough color depth. Bit the rest of the phone won me over.

can anyone tell me if there is such a significant difference between Atrix's display and Photon's? I've never seen a thread that big about display quality on any Atrix forums. so I'm wondering if it has something to do with the 4.3 size, is the pixelation that obvious on 4.3 inch display rather than on 4 inch? This whole thread got me so interested that I'm gonna go to the Sprint store and put my Atrix side by side with Photon and compare both displays.
thanks.

Can anyone test out this wallpaper on their phone for me? When viewed on my photon the background is black instead of purple, not even a trace of purple.

Other than the color I haven't had any problems with the screen. I've read posts about how it looks really bad while watching youtube vids, but mine looks great.

lol funny it is black on my Atrix too but with manual brightness brought all the way up I was actually able to see the wrinkles on the paper which i didnt see on auto.

Jet black on my screen. IMO it doesn't seem like it would be purple. It's very black. If it was purple I would think the black wouldn't be as dark and deep as it was. May want to double check the purple

Actually it's pretty dark on my PC too. You know there's differences between computer screens too, right? Not only hardware differences, but also calibration.

My opinion is, from what I see on my laptop, I wouldn't expect to see much purple on a phone.

of course there's difference :) and its purple on my PC display :) so I'm inclined to think it's more purple then black, and I just checked it on my laptop and it does look much darker although definetely not black :) But I agree about the phone's display. not that it bothers me much anyway lol

I do have digital vibrance on my PC, but even with it turned off I can see the purple. Looks fine on my Evo 4G too. Downloaded an app to edit the image and got the purple to show.

Thanks for checking, wasn't sure if there was something wrong.

OK can anyone try to open it on a normal desktop PC monitor? lol its purple lol I'm not lying and i'm not color blind or anything like that

It looks like an extremely dark purple around the wrinkles and nearly black near the edges on my CRT (Sony FW900).

I can hardly tell the wrinkles are purple. When I first opened it up I thought it was all black as well until my eyes adjusted a bit.

I would buy a Drioid Bionic without hesitation, assuming an LTE SGS2 isn't out before it, had it not been for the pentile screen. Awful. Just look at that Gmail icon!!

Is it true that the pentile screen pulls less power? If so, it's DEFINITELY worth the less vivid display to me. YMMV.
