People seem to be falling into Verizon's trap.

Verizon is holding off the GN so they can sell more Razr's and Rezounds and all I see are post of people buying these phones while they wait for the GN. The more Razr's and Rezounds Verizon sells they might hold back the release later and later. Hell I wouldn't be surprised if they waited until Jan. 15th to release the GN just so less people will return these phones.

Of course I doubt they will wait till next year to release the GN but then again I never thought we would have to wait till December either.

I don't think they'll go much past December 8th regardless of what happens with the RAZR/Rezound. I'm sure in their contract with Google/Samsung there is a hard date on when the phone must be out - which is probably before the end of 2011.

I'm sure buying a RAZR/Rezound and returning it when the GN comes out isn't falling into Verizon's trap.

Honestly the 12/8 date means nothing to me. None of the other dates were right so why would that one be any different? If Verizon does not get this phone out by mid December then I am done with it. I will wait for the next ics device on Verizon.

Agree. Or grab another phone like the rezound and root and install an ics rom and be happy. I am buying full price so to me the phones are going to be similar priced anyway.

It is if your improving the sales of the RAzr/Rezound. Regardless if you plan on returning it or not. Verizon wants the sales now, they will deal with the returns later. The think if they delay the GN release these other phones will sell better and that's whats happening.

There is no way I am buying what they want me to buy. Its Galaxy Nexus or I will wait.

I am currently 6 months into my contact with a manager approved early upgrade available. If my ETF was not $310 I would have moved onto AT&T. I am going to sign one last 2 year and if Verizon is still doing the same old thing 2 years from now I will be done with them.

Well then by that logic buying a rezound or razr now and returning it would get the nexus here sooner if verizon just wanted to sell those two devices. So you should be encouraging people to go buy one of those and return it...

You really think verizon gives 2 s what phone you buy? They make money off of the plans whether you have a 600 droid or a 200 ty smartphone, you are still getting charged the same amount.

They want the sales of the phones they put tons of money marketing that are not selling. They haven't put any marketing into the Nexus.

Consumers seriously don't understand this. When i use to work at T-Mobile, customers who bought just phones flat out would get mad at me when i really didn't pay them no mind (yea, bad SR, so what), saying stuff like "i know you get commission for this", my instant reply "sorry, no, i get literally nothing from the phones only if you get a plan".

I did not mean paying full retail. I meant say if the phone was 600 full retail( high end ~300 on contract) or a cheap 200 full retail (free on contract) they are still making money off of the 2 years you are under contract.

When Verizon puts a lot of money into marketing the Razr or Rezound they want to sell it. I know the sales reps don't care what you buy because they make commission on the plans. If everyone bought a Nexus over the Razr then Verizon would have a ton of them just sitting. Just because the store reps making the sales don't care does not mean the higher ups are Verizon don't.

Well if people do not want the phone it's going to be hard to sell them lol whether the higher ups want them sold or not.

They don't care either, they care about contracts not phones (in a sense of they want to sell x amount of phones without a contract). Phones are bait to getting into a contract, they don't advertise for you to get the phone, they advertise to use the phone features to get you on contract. That's my point of why would they hold the Nexus, if review after review is praising this device, would you really prevent that? If a person don't want to use Verizon services like vcast whether or not it is on the device, a person won't use it, period, the iPhone is virtually bloatware free and they added customers when it came out, that's more money for their pockets. Top priority when i was working was new customers, upgrades are cool, but for someone reason they never gave a rats arse about upgrades, post-paid/accessories (my manager told me time by time they make HUGE amount of money off of acc) was also a big thing. Even if i sold a free smart phone or a powerhouse smart phone, didn't matter, why? Because all the friggin' plans are the same for ANY smartphone you purchase. And your last statement is exactly why the highers would care, the high ups don't sell phones, the reps do, so if the iPhone came to T-mobile i'm pretty sure the reps would be estatic, as would T-Mobile, because the phone would bring NEW customers. Look at what sprint said, the iPhone was their biggest seller. Same thing can happen with the Gnex for Verizon.
