Per Contact Ringtone/Notification

I have a contact that I would like to set so that should they text me there would be no audible alert (notification) but only for this one user.

Anyone know of a way to accomplish this?

You can do it if you use the Handcent app for texting. It's better than the stock messaging app.

How? I've got Handcent installed but can't see where this is possible. Please advise.

Click on the message thread with this particular person you want to silence. Inside that thread, there will be a settings icon on the top right of the screen that applies to that particular contact. Go to notification settings, then notification sound, then android system. Top one is "silent."
