phone calls people can only hear me when on speaker phone

[Android Central Question]

making a regular phone call other end comes in clear but they are unable to hear me... put phone on speaker phone no issues. I am unable to hear them and they can hear me, swap from speaker to regular call they are unable to hear me switch back to speaker everything working as it should.

Double check your speakers/microphone are free from any build up.

yes cleaned any openings on phone!

also have checked to make sure phone is up to date along with multiple reboots going to shut down phone and pull sim card out now

Try it in safe mode to see a third party app is causing a conflict

And if not, you may just have a bad mic or earphone jack. (Earphone jack? Yes, the mic is cut out if you plug in an external headset.)

The speakerphone uses a different mic.

Can try in safe mode also like Mike said , but also test this by taking a video with your voice and see if you can hear it clear and loud .

Check and turn off your Bluetooth if it's on.

Bluetooth off and using the voice recording I get no audio just sounds like white noise.

Have you tried in safe mode?

Then you most likely have a hardware failure, should take to a repair center .

Have you cleared the cache partition and rebooted during 1 of your reboots?

Yeah sounds like hardware but I would try a factory reset before sending it in. I had audio problems once and a reset cleared it. It's a Longshot but it's worth a shot. Make sure you backup important files first.

Factory reset did not fix problem. Still unable for someone to hear me on the other end of the call. Place call on speaker they are able to hear me without issues

Plug headphones in and place a call the call comes through and they are able to hear me take headphones out unable to hear me

It really sounds like the primary mic has failed. If the phone is still under warranty, contact the manufacturer. If not, bring it to a repair shop.
