My wife loves my phone but its a bit big for her little hands. she really wants an Android but had always wanted an iPhone. She told me to find her a phone just like mine but a bit smaller.

any suggestions?

iPhone 4S? lol, it's similar in terms of spec but smaller screen. I don't know any other phones that have a smaller screen with similar spec right on top of my head.

The Motorola Atrix is a solid phone, especially since the 2.3.4 update. I am still going between both. It is a 4 inch, dual core tegra 2. I get about 2500 on quadrant versus 3500 with my SGSII but i have not noticed any difference in real world usage.

The resolution on the Atrix screen is higher so the icon looks smaller etc. Once I got used to it, I like it. I am going to give the SGSII a full 3 plus weeks before deciding on whether it is upgrade worthy for my usage or wait until the new year to see what else pops out. Another plus for the Atrix is battery life. It last about 30+ % longer for my usage than the SGSII so far.

Just my opinions...

I agree...atrix is best comparitively on at&t. I switched from it to the sII. The sreen size is great on the atrix, perfectly at 4". The resolution higher, but the colors aren't as vibrant.

What are you thoughts on battery life so far on the SGSII?

I have owned both the Atrix and now the SGS II. I pretty much agree with what everyone is saying. However, my battery life on the SGS II has been just as good (maybe slightly better) as the Atrix. Also, even though it is true that the Atrix LCD is not as vivid as the SGS II, I had no complaints about that while I was using it.

Also, the GPS on the Atrix is slightly better (as in almost perfect) than the SGS II so far. I have not had a real problem with SGS II GPS, but it has exhibited an occasional hiccup. Nothing concerning, just a split second burp of sorts. Still both offer stellar GPS performance. Nothing beats the X10 GPS though.

The Atrix has some cool docking features as well, but I don't know that they would appeal to your wife. The Atrix has all the essential features and is a solid recommendation for anyone who is turned off by a 4.3" screen but still seeks something bigger than the iPhone.

I agree. I tnink that the atrix is a great alternative

Compared to my Atrix, I got better battery life on the Atrix. But I knew this walking in - the battery on the SII is much quite a bit smaller (less capacity). Honestly, I've been surprised at how good the battery life is on the SII. I suspect the reason is the display technology. The led screen uses less power than the LCD screens, especially when displaying blacks since when black is to be displayed, the led stays off - hence the reason a lot of the menus and backgrounds are in black :)

Id say just get her an iPhone if she wants something smaller and has wanted one... i switched from a ip4 to my S2 but i will still tell everyone the iphone is a great phone because it is... i do like my S2 more being as i wanted a larger screen etc.... and they have tons and tons of accessories for it... and depending on how tech savy your wife is the iPhone will probably be alittle simpler for her....

get her the iphone. i had the atrix and liked it for a little but there were too many things wrong with it.. maybe i had a bad phone but it seemed laggy and unreliable.

Apple still has 25 Features Still Missing From the iPhone 4S.

Apple copied a lot but still has a lot more to copy.

There is no other phone even close to the Samsung Galaxy S II.

People who got their first TV 40 years ago tend to like 19", ten years ago 32". In 10 years, phones under 4" will be gone. They will all be 4.5"+ edge-to-edge displays without bezels.

I bet my daughter has smaller hands than your wife. It took her a day to get used to 4.3" and she would never go back to little again.

For the overall size in your pocket:

The Atrix is bigger: 4.64" x 2.50" x 0.43" = 5.0 in?

The ATT Galaxy S II is: 4.96" x 2.60" x 0.35" = 4.57 in?

If your wife has smaller hands, don't get her an even bigger phone. The Atrix 2 is expected to get down closer to the SGS2's size but that is still a ways off.

See the Phone Comparison. Right now there is nothing else like the SGS2.

I've had pretty much every AT&T there is. My wife has the iPhone 4 right now. GS2 beats iPhone in everything except battery and gallery app (I love the option to seperate pictures by faces) the new iPhone may catch up in specs. But its not touching the OS.

I'm sorry I cannot recommend the atrix in good faith. I just got rid of my atrix for the sgs II. My atrix would randomly reboot during use. I replaced it thrice, and every one has the issue. They were not ready to release gingerbread for that phone.

You are measuring the total area of the phone. I have both phones and in your hand, the SGSII is much larger. It may be thinner than the Atrix (which is why the total area is smaller), but it is not easier to hold in one hand or operate with one hand using your thumb. I doubt an average sized female could do much one handed with an SGSII. After using my wife as an example, she confirmed my thoughts.

Trust me, the Atrix will fit a smaller hand better than the SGSII, without a doubt! That said, I misread the OP. I thought he said his wife was coming from iphone and wanted a smaller android. I agree that iphone may be the best bet if OS is not a concern.

I do love my Atrix though!

This isn't a place to bash the iPhone. For a lot of people out there the iPhone is great. The OP's wife might be one of them. Other than the atrix it's the only other phone to come close in specs and be smaller.

And this is why I love Android Central. We have no problem recommending another OS if it fits the needs of the person.

My fianc?e has had Android since the Evo 4G, but since she switched to an iPhone she won't go back. It just works and she has had no issues with it. She's not a techie type of person.

If your wife says she likes the iPhone, get her the iPhone. It's not a tech thing -- it's a marital peace thing.

Exactly. If she want an Iphone, get her the Iphone 4/4s. Android and iOS both have their pros and cons. Don't try to convince her into liking something just because you like it. You wouldnt want your wife to make u drop the GSII for an Iphone 4s now would u? It's not a happy sight (i know, im living through it now....ugh)

I think its better to let her try out the phones at the store (well iphone 4 for now) and see which one she like better.
