Phone Data Transfer Apps- cut or copy?

I have a Verizon app that will transfer data from a Note 4 to another Note 4, but I want everything on the original Note 4 left alone. Will the "transfer" leave the original Note 4 intact? (copy not cut.) Thanks for your help. Frank
