Can anyone tell me how their battery life is? I just watched Phone Dog's review and they are really not impressed with it.

Mine is okay. Not great, not subjectively as good as my Note 4...but not bad either.

I realize it depends on usage but from what review says it really is a worry, considering it for next phone. Like the fact of front facing speakers like my HTC One.

I returned mine just today because I struggled to get 3 hours screen on time with it. It's a gorgeous phone, but the battery life killed it for me.

There are a number of threads concerning N6 battery life in this forum. You'll find a general consensus that, provided you are updated to the latest release, the battery life is substantially better than when first out-of-the-box. Whether or not it is sufficient for you is something only you will be able to decide.

For me, I generally get 3-4 hours screen time, of which about 2 are streaming video, 1-1.5 browsing, and the balance texting/calling, along with about 2 hours streaming audio (screen off), and the battery is typically around 30% after about 14 hours. I'm running stock OS, keep the screen set generally at about 40%, and normally maintain a very good connection to LTE and WiFi, the latter of which I seldom connect to.

I'm not sure I've read the specific review you're referring to, but if reviewing the many threads in this forum, I advise taking with a grain of salt any posts that just say "I get ___ hours screen time" or "battery life is bad" as they don't actually provide any effective information.

Just decide for yourself what kind of use you need to be able to get from your phone's battery charge (taking into account, if applicable, the speed at which it can be charged mid-day at a desk or in a car if needed) and whether the phone can provide it for you. It absolutely does last a full day for me, and unless it were to last a full two days, I wouldn't place any real value in increased battery life as my charging habit (charge overnight) wouldn't change a bit.

Hi Eric
I bought the nexus 6 last week and I have to say the battery gives me juice enough for my needs.
I am not a power user, but I do consider I am a moderate power consumer. That being said, with screen brightness about 30% I have gotten 4.5-5 hrs of screen on time. Tue nest I got so far was 5.5 hrs with low settings (haven't used battery saver mode.

So, coming from two smart phones that struggled to get 3 hours SoT, I can say I'm quite pleased.

I've read from quite a few people in this forum that they are not getting near this hrs SoT, so it seems a bit inconsistent

Hope I helped.

V.

I'm getting roughly 3-4 hours of SoT with mine. I could even make do with less to be honest, the turbo charger is just that good. I usually keep it topped off with wireless charging at my desk as well, so it really isn't a big deal.

I average roughly 15 - 17 hours a day with 3 to 3.5 screen on time.... That usually carries me from 100% down to about 15%.. My carrier is T-Mobile. I keep location/GPS, WiFi and Bluetooth on at all times... I don't play games at all... Mostly use my phone for surfing the internet, Twitter, Google+, Facebook, Texting and maybe 10 - 15 minutes of talk per day... I usually stream 90 minutes of music via Google play while at the gym to a pair of Bluetooth headphones... I have adaptive brightness set to about 40%... I turned active display off and not to save battery I just didn't like how it activated every time I moved my phone.. I'd love active display if it ONLY worked when a new notification came in....

The only things I've found to be HEAVY on the battery in the 3 months I've had mine is using GPS directions or actually sitting down to watch a 2 hour movie... Using the phone maps and GPS totally destroyed the battery quickly... so if you were going to use it to go somewhere you better have a car plug. I only used it once and even with it plugged up the battery drained faster than it could charge it up... but not dramatically faster... It also got warm/hot while using GPS... I only needed it for 20 minutes or so... on a LONG trip I could imagine it would get even hotter...

all in all the battery is pretty good.. Not as GREAT as I thought it would be with the larger battery and all the so called improvements in 5.0 but compared to the Nexus 5 it replaced it's better by miles....

I now have a wireless charging pad on my work desk and one by my easy chair. I like keeping my battery topped off so for me battery life is a non issue.

I've had mine since day one and after a week of learning, my battery has been spectacular.
The only related app I have is called DS Battery Saver.
I keep all my location services on. Screen at 100%.
Wallpapers are dark, never Live.
It is a fantastic device.
Not sure why others are having such a problem.

Exactly what I do now.... I just ran with it from morning to bedtime when I first got it for two weeks or so... But I have a Qi charger on my desk at work and since I sit here for 9 hours a day on average it has time to charge.... Now I leave work at 4 pm and by 10 pm it's still around 60% remaining.. I've even stopped charging overnight and just throw it on first thing in the morning when I arrive at work.... usually back near 100% by lunch and same after work... doing it this way I never have battery issues... The turbo charger I've only used once and that is when I was offsite all day from work and got home at around 40% remaining and knew I had to go out that night.. 15 minutes or so plugged up and I was back up to 80+% and that easily carried me to close to midnight...

As others have said, the battery improves a bit after a week's use. Enough to have made quite a difference in performance. I wonder if the bad reviews are using phones "out of the box" and before breaking it in, including PhoneDog?

As an aside, I don't run my battery down past 40% if I can help it in order to maintain its life expectancy. Though I haven't needed it yet,I keep a spare battery plugged in my car charger so I'm covered if the battery dies. Otherwise, stock, BT/wifi on, location using wifi/network (not GPS).

Anyway, GSAM stats since Jan 7 show I'm getting 18 hrs w/ 5 SOT:

I don't understand where these sites and /or people have been getting their devices, whether it be through carriers or GP or Moto. Personally, I plan on going the latter route. It's so hard to figure how and why some are getting seemingly defective units, especially three months after launch. I'd hope Google and Moto have stepped up quality control. That's why I hold off on being an early adopter.

While I'm sure there have been people who have suffered from having defective devices, far more have suffered from having defective (unrealistic) expectations. Mine was one of the early stock, and I've had absolutely no issues with it that weren't remedied by the OS patch update. If you want to ensure you're getting a more recently manufactured one, though, rather than one that might have been sitting in a warehouse for some time, your best bet is certainly to go through Moto or Google directly (since they each most likely operate from a single fulfillment center and can manage inventory from a first-in, first-out perspective).

Not anymore.. Just the first couple of weeks to see how long the battery would last in a pinch... Now I very rarely drop below 30 - 40%.... By topping it off at work and basically being at 100% when I leave for the day I typically go to bed 6 - 7 yours later still up around 60% and by the time I get back to work the next morning it's still over 50%....

Even on a HEAVY usage Saturday I still managed 11 - 12 hours with 5+ screen on... and that was just being out and about all day with no access to charging... which IMO is pretty darn good... My Nexus 5 wouldn't have lasted 1/2 that time.. 5 hours of screen on would have killed the 5 completely... and that particular day I got home plugged up the turbo charger and was plenty good to go within 1/2 an hour...

Yes I saw it and have no clue what he is talking about. My nexus 6 and my friends is fine.
