Phone Dog. Battery life?

I thought I would post here since I didnt see another thread regarding this subject and another related one I am experiencing... for just the last few days.

My battery life has been very good, much better than expected, I do a pool route all day from 6 am till arounds 3 and get home usually with around 40% or so left, this will last me until I turn in for the night and plug it in to charge. Then...2 days ago I noticed when I plug it in to charge it heats up pretty hot, which it did not do before. Now ever since that started happening my battery life has degraded badly, almost like something is running in the back ground. All I could find was FB messenger running more than usual, but stoppping it did not stpo the battery rapidly discharging or the phone getting hot while charging. Rebooting did nothing. Wondering if this is common as I do not come here to read threads but once a week or so.

Did you download any new apps around the time it started?

I'm confused - didn't you abandon the N6 after 2 weeks and go to the iPhone?

It's funny how there has been a few people who have spent the last 3+ months just floating around here putting their two cents in and they either don't have it or claimed to of gave it up for another device months ago... Yet still feel the need to constantly tell people how bad it is????

Mine has good battery life. Significant improvement over my nexus 5. Probably the best battery for me on a phone since my legacy BB days. Are you using a Nexus 6?

Compared to the Nexus 5 the 6 is a Kenyan Marathon Runner...... I loved my Nexus 5 but there is no way I could take it off the charger on my way to work and make very far past lunch let alone through a work day.... Nexus 6 with same usage easily last me from 5:30 am (leaving for work) to 10 pm (My usual bed time during the week) with 20% to spare....

It's facebook messenger. My friend and I noticed this as well on our nexus 6's. I uninstalled messenger until an update comes out.

I think what is important is that I am getting opinions that are different than what the negative review that Phone Dog has stated. It will enable me and I hope others to make the right choice when it comes to next phone purchase.

I watched the Phone Dog review on YouTube and his review and my Nexus 6 are two totally different devices.

I need to invest in multiple turbo chargers.

I actually have an extra one, it's nice for charging other devices as well. I'm not sure if these other devices support rapid charging but it does seem to still charge faster than normal.

On to the subject. If I never bought my Iphone 6 plus or a OnePlus then I wouldn't have noticed the N6 battery life being not so great. Being a Nexus fan, that's probably the one thing I don't like about the phone, but I can get through the day so I'm cool with it. It's definitely better than past Nexus phones I've had.

I'm not really a power user very much, because I have tablets that I still use. I don't like turning anything off and don't use adaptive brightness, I keep my brightness level to about 80%

My biggest hurdle with the N6 is when I'm at work on Friday (off today, ha ha). I work unusual hours and my days are very long (12+ hours). The building where I work sucks the battery out of any phone. I usually take my Iphone 6 Plus on Fridays and it's usually at around 70 - 75% when I leave, the Nexus in comparison is around 30% or less. This is after doing the same things such as listening to music, podcast and the occasional phone call.

I had the Note 4 and battery life was good but still couldn't match the 6 Plus IMO. The Oneplus and LG G2 were the only Android phones I've had that came close to the 6 plus.

I've read or watched some reviewers say that they would have accepted a Nexus 6 with a 1080P screen, if it meant better battery life. I agree with that, but I guarantee people would have complained that it was only 1080P.

All in all, battery life on the N6 is good enough for me, but I am disappointed with it compared to other phones.

Either way, the nexus 6 has terrible battery life.
Ray ol' buddy, ol' friend. You're calling the glass half empty again. It sounds like the N5 was "terrible", not making it past 2 PM from what people are saying. I won't reiterate my stats because you know them. Oh, all right, 19/charge @ 5 SOT.

Even better is to use relative term that indicate your personal experience and usage. Adequate, more than adequate, inadequate, you get the drift. A declarative like "terrible" or "great" is subjective. Great for me might be terrible for you.

I think the OP has a defective phone. Because his stats would, in my hands, be "terrible" (oooops, grossly inadequate :D). But they are also waaaaaay out of line with most of us reporting.

Who is most of us?

I'd say 85-90% of us have no problems with their battery life.
Yes there are those who are having problems.
Most real, some the vocal minority.

IMO, the reviewers are purposely trying to kill the battery by using it non-stop for hours on end when 99.8% of people will not be doing this.
Like movie reviews, watch them, read them and then make your own decisions.
If you want to see a movie, a review is not going to dissuade you. Same with a phone.
Again, just my opinion.

Mav.

Sent from my Sprint Tri-Band Nexus 6.

In my opinion there's no way to gauge numbers based on replies to a thread on Android central.

Yeah, c'mon man. Ease up a bit. Read the posts, and you'll find the significant majority of folks are "OK" with the battery. Not ecstatic, but not PO'd about it. Go review this thread which you have participated in:

http://forums.androidcentral.com/google-nexus-6/489309-nexus-6-battery-after-one-week-2.html

I skimmed 3 pages. You and the OP describe terrible battery. One had the same experience as the OP, but getting rid of Facebook resulted in stats like mine. The rest of the thread is made up of people like me. And as you've pointed out yourself, the most likely to post are the folks that have complaints.

The battery is NOT THAT BAD. It's jsut not superlative. If you need superlative, and a few more hours use will make that much of a difference for you, go ahead and get the iPhone 6+ or Note 4. I find your negativity to be a little overblown. There are issues, but they are not as significant as you make it sound......

Then why do you post your opinions? I mean, if we can't be here to share info and experience, what''s the point?

Do those reporting poor performance have more credibility than those of us reporting decent performance?
