Phone is off, why does the power button take me to the pin pad instead of showing my lock screen

I have a galaxy note 8 and when my phone was off I used to be able to push the power button to reveal my lock screen. Now when I push the power button my screen shows the pin pad over a blurry lock screen. I used to have to swipe over my lock screen to reveal the pin pad, which is the method I prefer. How do I get that back?

Revert back to an earlier version of Android (which will mean rooting and disabling the update app, or the phone will just update again soon). Or get used to the new way of doing things. How things get done changes all the time, on all phones.
