Recently posted regarding being new to using smartphone (yes, there's still one or two of us on the planet!), specifically Alcatel Pixi Glitz due to dead landline. Becoming more adept with using Pixi (and landline repaired). For some reason, landline has always displayed as 'Unknown' when calling bldg manager's cell, therefore, they don't answer. The need to contact this party is very infrequent but sometimes necessary so thought using Pixi was solution. However, the Pixi also displays as 'Unknown.' Google and forum searches mention possibly looking at dialer settings, etc but not seeing any way to potentially configure on the Pixi:

Settings > About phone > Status > My Phone Number (number displays...tapping or long-pressing doesn't open any additional options)

(FWIW...landline calls made using phone keypad, Pixi calls made from Contacts. Mgr has not mentioned having similar issues with anyone else in bldg.) Ideas? Suggestions? TIA.

Check with your carrier and see if there's some option at the account level that turns on Caller ID Blocking.

Pixi is a Tracfone, with same phone number rolled over from previous Tracfones. Didn't have the 'Unknown' issue with the previous phones. Will see what they have to say. Thanks.

On my S10 there's an option to reveal the number built into the phone. Not sure if it would be the same on your device but the option might be in a similar location which isn't where you described.

It's in my dialer options, so open the dialer, use the three dots to open settings and it's called, Caller ID and spam protection, you may not have the spam protection but you might have the Caller ID option. There's a slider that says, Share name and number... With people you call.

If you don't have this option then your best bet, if you don't believe it's carrier based, is to do a little research online about your phone. You're likely not the first to have these questions. Your device may have a forum at the manufacturer's web page where the MFG and other with your device may better be able to help you. Actually your carrier should provide you support and might even be able to help you even if it's not something they've turned on or off.

As I already posted, I have no such 'dialer' option/setting on the phone.

I've previously posted to the Tracfone forum and, prior to posting here, submitted a post to them regarding the current issues with the Pixi. They require that posts be approved, and for whatever reason, mine wasn't so not going to waste more time going that route. Contacting their Customer Service has proven more problematic, as they've grown over the years, and, in some instances, due to language barrier. So far, this forum has proven the most helpful but I'll continue to pursue other avenues. If my cellphone usage increases, probably looking to upgrade to phone with Wifi ability and some newer features. The Pixi is old, bare bones.

You say "dialer", do you know what I mean? When you open the phone and the dial pad comes up, that's the dialer. The place you sighted as looking was in the "about" area of your settings. This is more like an in app setting and that's more like a phone settings thing.

Meanwhile this also caused me to think of your contact card which is part of your contacts. It's kind of a long shot though but if you can find your contact card maybe it had options since it represents you... maybe.

I totally don't get the forum thing. Your question seems innocent enough and really what's there to be cautious about wanting your number to be displayed? I think I'd be cautious about someone trying to hide their number.

I know there's *69 to hide your number but isn't there one to display your number when calling from a private number? Not sure if it would work for you but I'm pretty sure I remember something like that back in the hay day off Caller ID. Might be worth a Google.
