Phone reboots after trying to use newly built in back/rear camera

[Android Central Question]

My Samsung A40 rear camera wasn’t focusing correctly, so I disassembled the phone and put in a brand new camera. After this I booted up the phone and everything works perfectly, except when I try to use the back camera in any app, the phone freezes and reboots completely 10/10 times.

I have tried the following:

rebooting multiple times
wiping cache
wiping cache of all apps using the camera (Default Camera app, Snapchat, Instagram, etc.)
booting in safe mode

Nothing of the above worked, and I don’t really want to do factory reset.

Is there a solution to this or the newly installed camera is faulty as well?

Try to open the device again and retrace your steps if anything was left disconnected.
