Phone screen stays black

I just changed my battery on Friday. I had to put on a new screen protector.
I believe the phone screen (when using the phone app) goes black and stays black even after hanging up. Any idea why?

The screen protector might be blocking the proximity sensor. Make sure the protector has a cutout where the sensor is.

It does and it looks aligned very well. Only messes with the phone app, if it was the proximity sensor wouldn't it messes with other apps also?

The proximity sensor should only cause the screen to black out when you're on a non-speakerphone call. Can you try taking the protector off temporarily to see if the problem goes away?

Took screen protector and refit, worked phone for a while. Took screen protector all the way off and still have an issue. Ughhh.
Tried one of those proximity sensor apps and it shows to be working fine

It's probably something that happened while you were replacing the battery, but I don't have the technical know-how to speculate on what the specific problem would be.
