Phone switching off and draining battery when using apps in in 3G

OK - I have a galaxy s3 mini which has started to switch itself off and drain the entire battery if I try using an app with 3g. its fine when using wifi.
the same thing happened to my galaxy ace phone so I bought a new phone.
im guessing I will have to do the same again unless anyone can offer some advice about the problem

Hello! You should probably take this to your carrier. I wonder if it could be the SIM card?

thank you for your reply. Someone else suggested this so have ordered a new sim
