So phone had black screen with yellow light blinking, was not responsive, phone was also overheating, when I got home the phone was dead and now doesn't charge. (Device: Galaxy S6)

Welcome to Android Central! The battery might have died. Bring it to a repair shop (or contact Samsung if it's still under warranty).

Ok, but the thing was that the phone was still sort of alive before it died, where the LED was still blinking yellow (for snapchat). It was overheating like it was doing something.

The overheating might have damaged the battery (or in itself may have been the death throes of the battery).

Before you bring it to a repair shop, try plugging it into a wall outlet and let it charge undisturbed for at least 6 hours. Then press and hold Power for about 15 seconds to see if anything happens. If nothing happens, then press and hold Power and Vol Down for about 15 seconds to force a shutdown (in case the phone is actually frozen on a blank screen) -- then try to power on normally after that.

Ok, so i tried the method you said and it did not work, phone is warm from charging, i might go to a repair shop tomorrow.
