Phones without the 3.5mm input particularly the Xperia 5.

Am I correct in assuming that the Sony Xperia series of smartphone that do not have the 3.5mm audio input jack will not be able to be charging simultaneously while listening to music via the USB-C port because that port would already be in use for the wired headphones.

I prefer wired headphones over wireless type.
