Photon Owner's Comments, Issues, and Reviews

Does anyone know how many points the multi-touch is on the Photon?
I'm not even sure what this question means. Are you asking how many separate places it can tell you are touching to support multi-touch gestures? How many do you want? It's not that big a screen (for multi-touch gesturing) and many of the multi-finger touches are hard to actually do in practice.

so many problems with this phone and unsure whats causing it, it constantly freezes, gets errors trying to go into messaging, camera, internet, android market, etc. not sure if its a software issue or hardware issue, and i barely have any apps downloaded, just recently got spb shell 3d and worked amazing and now it freezes that, also phone gets really hot (is that normal) and maybe its caused by the temperature of the weather??/ (100+) so im very upset with this phone and i just returned a evo 3d with freezing issues, so any advice will help me thanks in advance. thinking about going back to blackberry, never had any of these issues.......:'(

^I hope you get the issues worked out. My old Blackberry was ROCK SOLID STABLE. I hope all these little issues get worked out. IMO, the Photon is the best productivity Android device on Sprint ATM..

I'm having call issues... There are times were I can make a call but there is no audio going in or out. Using the speaker option does nothing. Same thing with receiving calls, I accept a call but I get no audio going in or out and the person on the other line can't hear me.

Or I'll make a call (still with no speaker or audio) the screen shows that the call is connected, but it doesn't even ring, but the call time starts.

The only fix I found is to do a battery pull or a reset. Anyone know what I can do?

A reboot used to fix that issue for me but that hasn't happened to me since the update... mine works flawlessly now.

Have you downloaded the OTA update? I had to go fishing in "settings" to find it, it hadn't been pushed to my phone. Anyhow, this is a really common problem with the phone, (although most of us could fix it with a reboot, without pulling the battery) and the OTA update fixed it for most of us.

Hi!

New Here, im comming off of a evo4g since it came out, previous phones were tp2, palm pre ( a couple months) and the original tp...loving my photon so far since it was up-dated, blows the socks off my evo on calls and data....plus all the other stuff....im very happy:)

I just did the OTA update and it seemed to have fixed that issue..

New issue is now I'm getting a lot of Force Closes. I get it when I'm trying to run Pocket Casts, Cloudskipper, and Handcent for right now.. it's kind of getting annoying because it goes to a black screen and I have to hit the home button to get back.

I just double checked my stock music app and that isn't working either.. seems like any app that deals with audio will not work

But I can play games and the sounds comes out with no issues

So far i like the phone but only have had it a few days. I had the evo which i loved then traded it in on the 3d and hated so got the nexus and hated even more.

Only things i dont like are not being able to define which google features are synced and not having folders in my photo album.

Yes, I was wondering what the hardware supported in the way of how many fingers the screen will register at once. 2 is a little underwelming IMO even if you don't feel the screen isn't that big. My wife's Epic supports 5 and my iPod Touch support 5. There is a game where it requires 3.

I'm with you on this one. I had the same problem the other day. Pocket Casts, Music and anything else that would use audio didnt not want to work. Required a re-boot to fix. I think this phone is great, but pretty much requires a re-boot every day to work the best. If not, I feel like the internet slows down to a crawl, and other problems creep up.

My Evo 4G made it 147+ days without needing to be rebooted. Something about the Photon requires that daily or every other day re-boot.

Download quickpic. (free, no ads.) It gives you folders and is, as advertised, a quick and simple interface. The stock photo app is nice to use with social networks, but quickpics is far better if you just want to access photos on your phone.

A reboot doesn't fix the issue for me at all. Almost any app that needs to use some kind of audio for a notification will freeze it up an force close what ever app.

I ended up wiping it out and starting from scratch.. So far so good.. I'm slowly re-downloading my apps to see what if anything may have cause the issue for me.

I am getting annoyed that the Android Market continually shows the app update for Smart Device Manager. Thing is, when I update it, I immediately begin receiving text SPAM that contains nothing but long strings of numbers.

I uninstall the upgrade and it stops, but I want to completely uninstall the software.

Does anyone know how?

Here's the part that really fries me. The Sprint service that tracks phones costs $2/month/phone. At least let me completely opt-out by uninstalling the software so I don't continually get notified of the available app upgrade.

I'm not seeing the pixels, and the colors on mine are just fine. Better than my EVO 4G. Maybe my eyes just see differently. :-)

What update?

My experience is the opposite. My EVO4G runs typically 1 to 2 bars in my house (used to be better before GB update). With 1 bar on my EVO, my Photon has had 4+. My "time without a signal" on my EVO runs over 20% typically, whereas my Photon is at about 2%. That was one of my main hopes that the signal would be improved, and it definitely is.

I know i agree my display looks good dont see pixels. Also has way better service than evo4g

I am new to forums so I apologize early if I dont do this right. I have a photon n I'm looking for new use ideas. I use it for basic phone use n I've downloaded apps etc I recently found my office app that came with phone. Pretty cool. But i know there's lots I m missing. Can anyone share? Plz n thnk u

I just updated the system to version 45.2.7.MB855.Sprint.en.US and my wifi got a boost! My Music apps still work (Pandora) and my facebook doesn't forceclose. So far so good! I have a non-rooted Photon. O:-)

I just got my Photon two days ago. There are no indicator lights. I have to unlock the phone to see if I have any texts, messages, emails. I do get a green light if there is a missed call. Am I missing something? I can;t find anywhere to turn this on either. Maybe mine is broken?
